Does it fly? What's the deal with those flaps?
It's a monitor hood!
These help block out external, ambient light. The monitor is being advertised as color accurate and these shades will prevent any color distortion; great for photo editing!
It actually does. You can put a lot of rows and columns on a 4K 31.5" screen. It's probably excellent for Excel work. No need to keep scrolling all the time.
This is dressed up like a professional monitor, but seems totally unsuited to work that would require any degree of color accuracy. It's especially useless for HDR, and the fact that it includes that feature is a clue to be wary of what this monitor claims to be.
Edit: haha, I actually ended up buying an open box one that they had for $278 (they have 2 more as of now). I have a machine that I mostly use for sight seeing games (flight simulator, tomb raiders, etc) and some light video editing, and at that price it actually kind of made sense to upgrade from the cheap VA panel I've been using. I got a year of third party warranty coverage that covers discoloration in case it has or develops the issues described in the negative reviews. That makes me feel better than the awful support acer provides on new ones. The long term use reviews on these are truly disturbing for something that's supposed to be meant for professional applications. Hopefully it's just a subset, as most people don't come back to update their review months or years later if everything is fine. Fingers crossed that this one doesn't have the issues, but hopefully at worst I'll be out the cost of the warranty

BTW, love how you are listed as a "new user" yet right above that registered in 2010
It's a shame. You cannot yet buy a 32" 4K IPS screens at this price point. A couple more years I guess.
550 brightness only in hdr mode. 350 for normal.
108% srgb is pretty decent, but kinda crap for the wider gamuts
