Better to use sugar/borox combo to get to the nest for ants imo

Just in time for the annual migration of these pests in my area. Great price as well as I looked on Google and found that sometimes this 2 can deal is better than some places charge for one. Thank you OP and a good day to you. (or night)

And you felt the need to announce this—why?

I seriously have never understood why people (not *just* you) feel the need that it's necessary to clog up the feed by announcing "In for 1"…

I hope these sorry fools are as transparent in real world as they are on the net so it is easy to avoid them.

With sugar/borax, you want the worker ants to take the borax to the queen. Once she eats it, she will die within a few days. The colony would then try to find a new queen, but hopefully the borax sugar reduced their numbers too. Either way, all the ants will move. They usually move just few feet away to your neighbors yard. Though I find that powdered sugar with borax works best because it attaches to the borax better and hard for the ants to pick and choose the sugar.

A bit more meat on those bones for the uninitiated? Powder borax as in the laundry detergent booster, mixed with regular sugar? Placed willy nilly on the floor or?

Landry borax, the powder, costs around $3 for a box. Then mix with powdered sugar, a 50/50 mix is fine. Once mixed, pour it on top of the ant colonies. I usually use about a tablespoon for a small ant hill. So I normally make about half a cup and lay small piles around my lawn where the wind can't blow it easily.

Others use just regular table sugar, but you need to mix it with water. However, once the water dries outdoors, the ants will just eat the sugar lol. In Texas heat, that mixture doesn't last long and you'll just end up feeding them. So powdered sugars works a lot better than regular table sugar.

While borax won't kill your pets or kids, don't make it easy for them to find it, it's still toxic. Place it in corners where they can't find it. It's also safe for your plants, but I will avoid using borax on my garden since it will affect the PH levels and potentially kill my plants. It's best to place borax on small rocks or concrete where ants have easy access, but out of sight for young children and pets.
