I went in Oct a couple years ago. Beautiful weather, calm waters, and just a majestic place. Easily one of the best trips I've ever taken. Rent an ATV and drive all over!

I would advise being careful with Expedia. Last year one of my flights was changed by the airline twice; the first time, Expedia said everything was fine and, when I checked with the airline, it was. The second change Expedia said was fine, but when I checked with the airline they did not have a ticket for me. I phoned Expedia and they put me on hold for 30 minutes while they talked to the airline, then Expedia said it was okay. I checked with the airline, and they still had no ticket for me. I called Expedia again and they reassured me it was okay. Well, when I got to the counter at the airport to come home they had no ticket for me. I had to wait while the airline clerk phoned the airline, then Expedia, and finally I got the ticket after about 45 minutes.
Also, a friend just had a problem where their flight was cancelled and Expedia said, "Sorry, not our fault. No refund."
I will never use Expedia again due to my personal experience.

Is there a need to spent time at the airport there? I was out in 5 mins...

Talking about looks and first world problems, last time I was in Heathrow the roof was leaking and natural waterfall was created among seats that are build so that you cannot rest your body Smilie

I bet you enjoyed Santorini though Smilie

The Santorini airport reminds me of a bus station in third world country during an evacuation. But more crowded and less organized.

Beautiful island though.

October is the winding down of tourist season. If you go in October go in the beginning. The weather will be perfect and most hotels will be open. Towards the end of October a lot of the hotels will close down so be cautious if you book late in October.

I was in Santorini in 2019, the first week of October and it was perfect. Less crowds, not too hot, and everything was still open. The hotel I stayed at was actually closed the following week so perfect timing for us.

I can't imagine going during the summer. You would not be able to go to any of the touristy spots because it would be too crowded. Plus it would be hot and uncomfortable. I got some good deals at the shops too because a lot of the shops were also shutting down. Just act like you are not interested (even if you are). The more stuff you are not interested in the better a deal you should be able to get.

Honestly getting out of the airport was very quick. Waiting hours for your flight to leave...not so much fun. The human to chair ratio was about 4:1 (shoulder to shoulder sitting on the floor) and only one restroom per gender after you passed through security. This was 3 years ago so hopefully things have improved.

Oh yes, the church pew approach! Far too uncomfortable to ever fall asleep by accident Wink

How is the weather in September there?
Warm, but windy, in the day; cool at night. If you are from a warm climate, you will need a jacket at night.

Same experience. They were renovating , but who knows where they are with that after the pandemic.

Hehe, you did it wrong!!! There you don't wait at the airport. You wait at a taverna, you literally see you plane arriving and go to the airport.

But seriously, I think 3 years ago those airports were already to the hands of Fraport.
So, the third world country statement of yours should really go to third world German private sector Wink

In any case, nothing beats TSA

I have considered doing a Wiki post about the warnings of Expedia since they're not reputable and have over 7,300 complaints filed and a 1.05 rating out of 5. Since they're a paid member of the BBB, they got an A+ which is par for the course. BUT my biggest complaint is why Serra (SD staff) continues to not provide the link to American Airlines or other airlines about 97% of the time (except the ones that Expedia doesn't sell like Southwest, etc.). Well, I do know why. American doesn't pay the affilate fee and on SD, it's not about consumer protection, it's about money and zero ethics.

Well, unless I have to walk across the tarmac and get into a Dash 8 or CRJ 700 for the flight to Greece, I'm not worried Wink

So many people in CLT. So few jetways.
