I just learned that each stick of DDR5 is already dual channel, so two sticks is quad channel. Much better.
Thanks for that. Thought I read a lot on DDR5, but so missed that important feature somehow.
I really want 64GB ( VM's ) so DDR5 is out of my price range. If I get a new one with DDR5 I'll just have to live with 32GB for awhile I guess then ( 70% of time I'm sure I'd be fine ) , well maybe the 16GB if I spend too much to begin with . I have been torn on the DDR4 or DDR5 for a new i7-12 laptop.
There is that new Asus one i7-12700H that has MUX switch with DDR5 but 8GB soldered on, so 40GB max, like WTH. Always something.
This one as far as I can tell on the MSI site does __ NOT __ have Thunderbolt 4 which I want for the future ( PCIe 4 external HD option ).
Why aren't ALL these newer very, very nice laptops coming with 1440p screens, seems like a perfect match for games, not too high or too low.
Has the Killer Intel Wireless card.

Well the actual bandwidth is similar, so you still need 2 ddr5 memory sticks to boost your performance.(https://b23.tv/GDRgr2B)there's an before and after review for a ddr5 laptop here.
The biggest problem for this laptop is just the hardware spec was not that tempting… bestbuy gp66 has similar spec but i9.

https://www.microcenter.com/product/647015/ROG_Strix_SCAR_17_G733ZW-XS96_173"_Gaming_Laptop_Computer_-_Black;_Intel_Core_i9_12th_Gen_12900H_25GHz_Processor;_NVIDIA_GeForce_RTX_3070_Ti_8GB_GDDR6 this is what I'm using right now. (And there's also an 15.6 version with similar spec) It goes in and out of stock quickly, and I agree, in store pickup is jot for everyone, but there are other stores that offer shipping.
