It looks like this model is out going and being replaced by SDMSD44, which has a transparent lid but otherwise identical. You may very well see this one go clearance at Lowes to make room for the new version. I tried to look it up on Brickseek but didn't have any luck.

IMO Bosch is not good. I've had their tools and bits and I am not a fan. The tools are expensive, they break, and have bad warranties. The customer support is blah. The bits are soft metal and bend/strip easily. I'd go for another brand if it were me.

I have the Bosch mini ratchet and bit set. The small ratchet is great. The quality of the bits is average.

This is not the same set from Lowes that was on here. That being said, if you could find the set at Lowes, which i bought for 11$, I'd get the Lowes version first since it's almost the same.

Maybe true of the driver bits. I've been happy with their drill bits, though -- both spade and twist cobalt. The drill bits seem to test well on the usual tool-comparison youtube channels.

I purchased this set (or a nearly identical one) about a year or so ago. It's held up well and I've somehow not lost a single bit through two extensive renovation projects on our home. You can't beat it for the price. The average homeowner would get a lot of mileage out of this one.

Question:

How does this compare to Milwaukee / Dewalt in regard to bits coming out? Both suck.. this seems to have all bits come out forward instead of some going into a tight slot that you push it in and out of. Both are very annoying, looking for a case that's not.
