Yes Smilie Note though that these are only extended (no theatrical) and though they come with the bonus content they don't include any commentaries. Annoyingly, the 4K Blu-ray's also don't include any commentaries and I believe the only way to listen to them is via the DVD or Blu-ray releases. That said, this is the "ultimate" version of LOTR if you want it in the best sound/image currently available.
Click on one of the 3 movies and it will display Movies Anywhere on all 3 titles. These are Warner Brothers movies which are one the studios included with Movies Anywhere.
Generally to get the "best sound/image"from UHD you would need to go with disc, especially on the sound side.

You do need to have the equipment and proper setup to take advantage of it though.

1. I don't see MA listed anywhere.

2. The system req's list only Windows Phones under Mobile section.

3. No mention of any other viewing options other than M$ platforms.

4. Site lists "UHD" as needing "Xbox One S or Xbox One X with a connection to a 4K television over HDMI 2.0a with support for HDCP 2.2" which means they're probably using DRM so no support for any other streaming devices.

Please help clarify anything I've listed here. From what I read it looks like I wouldn't be able to even watch them since I don't own an Xbox or a Windows Phone. I hope I'm wrong.

Vudu and Apple Itunes have Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision playback available with 4k. You just need to have the digital retailers link to Movies Anywhere.

How do you buy this if you already own the HD editions? There doesn't seem to be an option to buy or upgrade.

you do not get the files. but you can add them to movies anywhere, which is actually a pretty decent platform. I have the 4k files and they're each 30+ gigs, which makes getting them on movies anywhere and freeing up some space on my nas somewhat desirable.

sorry if this is a dumb question, but if i do buy this, can i download the files and throw them into my plex library? or is it something i can only watch on a specific website/app? would love this but not if I have to download yet another app to watch it. thanks in advance.

It says that UHD streaming is only available on Xbox. Can someone confirm if you are able to stream UHD on Movies Anywhere if you purchase through Microsoft? Otherwise, there's no point in buying this unless you have an Xbox.

These are all MA compatible.
It says xbox because Microsoft will not play UHD in the browser.
You can use any other MA streamer like VUDU, itunes, apple tv app etc.
Provided that all these are linked in your MA account.

It doesn't matter where you buy them from. It comes down to what each platform carries. As long as you buy something in 4K, regardless of what platform you buy it on, it will play in 4K on other platforms, as long as the other platform also carries it in 4K. The only time you'll run into an issue is when the other platform only carries it in HD. That happens a lot with Google Play and Prime Video. Those two have the least amount of 4K content. iTunes and Vudu have the most, so you're generally safe if you try to watch on either of those.

I bought the Jurassic Park bundle from MS on the last sale, paid for it, it shows "owned" in the MS store, but it doesn't show up anywhere for me to watch. I've been on countless calls and chats with MS support and it remains an open issue. Honestly it has reached the point where it isn't worth my time to fight with them over $25.

Anyway, just pointing this out so that people make sure to verify your purchase and that it works immediately.
