In my case, if just that I never never used GV before. So it will be a more familiar process to use Boost Mobile since they are running a deal of less than $2 to get a simcard with a new number. But I would like to learn to use GV for future use too.
You're also technically saving money that way too. It costs $3 to unlock a GV number before you can port it.

FYI, my S22 Green 128GB, ordered on April 10, has a shift in expected dates. Originally expected 4/20-4/22; now shows 4/21-4/23. Pretty sure this is just an estimate, because no tracking number provided yet.
My expected delivery date changed to Jun3~5 (ordered S22 Black 128GB on April 17). The reply from Google Fi Support on this: "I have checked the details and see that you have ordered the Samsung S22 device on Apr 17 2022, and the estimated delivery date is between Jun 3, 202 - Jun 5, 2022. In this case, I suggest you to please wait till the end of Jun 5, 2022."

Latest update for my order, a S22 Green 128GB, ordered on April 10.

The "Delivered by" date was originally April 20 - 22.
As of April 19, the dates changed to April 21 - 23.
As of April 20, the dates changed to April 22 - 24.

Again, I'm sure this is just an estimate based on when they expect to ship, but inventory must be behind.

When does the port in to Fi actually take place? When you activate the new phone? I have a line with Tracfone that will expire on 5/31/22. If I place the order now and Fi won't ship the phone until early June, that line will have expired by then and the port in will fail.

You can change number and/or account number etc anytime until port in to fi is success. You can buy new number when its time to port.

But yes, you cannot port until your order is dispatched/delivered

when ordering it asks for port in number, can we change this number later at the time of activation?
Does anyone know if this would work? I want to port a different number, but I have already provided a number during order.

I'm not sure you have found this already.

Visible Wireless
How do I transfer my number out (aka port-out) of Visible?
Answer below:
Any Visible member can port-out of Visible, or move their Visible phone number to another carrier by following these steps:-Log in to your account and go to your Account section. Your account must be active to transfer your number.
-On desktop, please make sure you're on the "Profile'' tab.
-There you'll see your account number and a request to receive your Porting-Out PIN. You'll need both to port-out of Visible.
For most members, use the "Request via Email" to send your unique, 6-digit PIN to the email on file.
For members who've changed the email associated with their account in the last 30 days, you'll need to use the "Request via chat" button to get your Port-Out PIN from a Care agent.

Just received an email saying my order now arrives April 23 - 25. This is the first actual email notification about a change in dates, so hopefully it is the last date change.
