I have 3 of these knock off usb c hubs and they constantly disconnect and reconnect. Very frustrating, usb cards get corrupt with slightest wind or desk movement and it disconnecting, wireless mouse does not reconnect back sometimes, and my wired keyboard doesn't always turn back on so missing power. I also use it with phones connecting to USB-C monitor and it works about 30% of the time and when it does I just leave it untouched before disconnecting. Also HDMI over USB-C doesn't work on phones, (HDMI works only for Windows laptop For me, the phone has to connect directly for portable usbc display to work).

Did I just get unlucky with two of these having the same issues or is this inherent issue with USB-C in general?

Mine are not this brand but the brand is irrelevant as I think they are mostly built in the same factory in Shenzhen regardless of the brand they print on it.
