Apparently, batteries are designed to leak. It's better for them to leak than to be sealed and then explode. They said they will leak if in hot environments. I guess you won't get device protection. I didn't know duracell and energizer will reimburse you for damaged devices from leaky batteries.
Wow awesome link dude thanks for the info
Alkaline batteries have their applications - tv remotes, thermostats, mice, keyboards, etc. Anything with extremely low drain that you may change out once every year or more.

My fav part was the eco fee canadaians pay. If I had that I would be pretty interested in where that was going and why.

Alkaline and lithium are the way though yes.

Everytime I buy energizer or Duracell, they end up leaking in seriously like half the devices I put them in. I've had great luck so far with the Best Buy insignia brand batteries though. Not a single leak and I have them in easily a dozen+ devices. For what it's worth.

Duracell leaks like crazy. Sure, all alkaline batteries leaks but the rate of leak from Duracell is crazy high. I have documented with photos and the rate in low-drain device like remotes are about 30%. Other cheapo brand I use like AC Delco and Amazon brand does not have that much leak.
