Lifetime for THE COMPUTER you install this on. It's non-transferrable. (Updates are apparently included) I'm seeing regular price between $69-99.

The free updates don't include upgrades.
IOW, when Office 2024 (or whatever) comes out you don't get to upgrade to it. However, you will still receive security, bug, and critical updates to your Office 2021 for the life of the product (thru Oct 13, 2026).

Also, read the ONE COMPUTER part as something that you control. If a computer that you had this Office 2021 on dies, you are fully able to license the same Office 2021 on a new computer, provided you log into your Microsoft account and remove the old computer activation. It's a full retail license that is fully transferrable - as long as it's only on one computer at a time.

Also², If you already have (or have had) a Microsoft account tied to a subscription Microsoft product (Office365/Microsoft365) Microsoft may not allow you to use that account for perpetual products (although this isn't explained when you try to use it). Just create a new, free Microsoft account and activate it that way. You can use the key you receive for any valid email address (regardless of the email address you enter when purchasing the Office 2021 Pro).

I purchased from here in mid April. Last week my installation suddenly restricted my access as unlicensed. I called Microsoft support and they tried to help but unable to saying something to the effect this was MSDN licensed and ultimately I would have to contact the seller. I do not recommend this deal.

It seems like there are some confused people. This is not Office 365 that you'd pay yearly for and will always be the newest latest greatest. This is the current version of the standalone version of Office. As of the moment, they are basically the same thing. If 365 had a major update tomorrow, this would still stay the "old" version. This works fine for the majority of people, just understand what you're getting. Also as others have mentioned, this is for one PC and is non-transferable to any other PC. So it's lifetime of THAT PC, not your lifetime...assuming you don't die any time soon and you end up buying a new PC at some point, you'll still need to buy another version later (if you need/want Office).
I assume you've already been corrected, but just in case, this IS TRANSFERABLE TO NEW PCS. You simply need to deactivate the old PC on your Microsoft account.

If you switch to a newer computer you must delete Office on the old computer before installing it on the new computer. Or in your case if you reset the computer to factory settings it deletes Office and then you can reinstall once the computer is reset. It's all about the Product Key, the Product Key can only be on one computer.
You don't need to delete Office. You just need you deactivate the old PC on your Microsoft account.

Jeez, thank you for explaining it so well. So much misinformation in this thread about what a 1 device license is and how it works.

Unable to make a purchase from both StackSocial and Popular Science websites. Placed an order on PS only to have it cancelled a few minutes later. Placed an order on SS back in January so it wouldn't let me make another one. Bogus sites when you need one copy for a cpu and one for a laptop.

As a lifetime Windows user, I'm wary of any Microsoft products they claim to be lifetime licenses, as they revoked several Office 2013 & 2016 licenses from my account out of the blue back in 2017 and 2020 respectively. Their support basically said "tough luck, get Office 365"

Wow, this reminded me of this blast of the past deal:
https://slickdeals.net/e/8355911-ms-office-2016-14-99-for-students-and-school-faculty?src=SiteSearchV2Algo

I'm still using it today. 😂. Honestly, what kind of advancements have been done in 7 years in Microsoft Office products? Like the basic ones like Word and Excel?

EDIT: If they have full dark mode Excel, I'd consider upgrading. I'm talking about black cells and white text with a click of a button. In 7 years they were able to at least improve that.... right? Do tell!
For excel, newer versions have power query, power pivot and power maps. Plus the new function xlookup (like vlookup but better). The power query is similar to Power Bi and allows connections to all kinds of data sources beyond what the data connection provided. You can even query Facebook or web pages in addition to text files and databases.

xlookup sounds cool from what I've read. But the most important question that no one has answered yet. Have they invented dark mode for excel? Not a theme but the actual cells turning black and text turning white? I've been using excel late at night recently and let me tell you... it sucks! Thank God for monitors being able to lower down brightness and f.lux helps a little bit. Still too bright. It's 2022 who uses white screens anymore? I haven't seen a white web page in forever.

I did the Stack Social for Mac. It works. I don't care about "upgrading" to the next version of Office, I just wanted something that's permanent without a subscription, I'm NOT a power user, I also have web access to Office via Uni.
