Lifetime for THE COMPUTER you install this on. It's non-transferrable. (Updates are apparently included) I'm seeing regular price between $69-99.

The free updates don't include upgrades.
IOW, when Office 2024 (or whatever) comes out you don't get to upgrade to it. However, you will still receive security, bug, and critical updates to your Office 2021 for the life of the product (thru Oct 13, 2026).

Also, read the ONE COMPUTER part as something that you control. If a computer that you had this Office 2021 on dies, you are fully able to license the same Office 2021 on a new computer, provided you log into your Microsoft account and remove the old computer activation. It's a full retail license that is fully transferrable - as long as it's only on one computer at a time.

Also², If you already have (or have had) a Microsoft account tied to a subscription Microsoft product (Office365/Microsoft365) Microsoft may not allow you to use that account for perpetual products (although this isn't explained when you try to use it). Just create a new, free Microsoft account and activate it that way. You can use the key you receive for any valid email address (regardless of the email address you enter when purchasing the Office 2021 Pro).

I purchased from here in mid April. Last week my installation suddenly restricted my access as unlicensed. I called Microsoft support and they tried to help but unable to saying something to the effect this was MSDN licensed and ultimately I would have to contact the seller. I do not recommend this deal.

I have Microsoft Office 2003, debating if I should just wait till 2023 and make it a 20yr upgrade.

If it's anything like the lifetime keys that I've bought off StackSocial in the past, it will be a 1 year license, but you won't know until a year from now. At that time, the seller will have closed their store, and StackSocial will say, "There's nothing we can do."
Once a upon a time, all software were lifetime license.

Hackers really like people running office software that does not have security updates anymore. Office 2003 stopped getting security updates April 8, 2014. There have been many vulnerabilites past that date that are not fixed anymore. Some of which just needs someone to send you an infected document and you open it or a friend not realize a document is infected and send it to you. I wouldn't risk my systems by running that version.

I bought this one back in January from SoftKeyWorld, total $27.81. And yes, it's still working! https://softkeyworld.com/product/...onal-plus/

Code SPRING22 for 20% off. Also code MEP1 for 35% off.

Edit: Code MEP1 is now 30% off effective 4/14/22.

This link worked like a charm. I was a bit skeptical about it at first but it actually worked! I'm totally recommending this over the original thread that offers the Office Suite for $50.

Any virus scanner should catch an infected DOC way before you actually try to open it. Even with the add-on, an infected DOCX would be more likely to crash 2003 than actually work. You should be scanning documents sent by anybody before opening them anyway even if you have the latest update for 365.

Even if these codes eventually fail, even when the non-365 standalones stop getting security updates, you're ahead of the 365 software leasing trap after 6 months or less, depending on how low you got it. And if they are good codes, way cheaper to buy standalone every 3 years than pay even the lowest tier 365.

Antivirus doesn't always protect from zero-day vulnerabilities. Taking the stance that you have antivirus so you don't need to patch your software is a very risky way to go. Nothing wrong with you deciding that though. It is your systems and such. You are free to do as you wish of course.

Office 365 won't protect from zero-day either. That's the entire definition, it's not patched to protect against it yet. Antivirus definition files will be updated much faster than software will be patched. Yes, it's better security to have updated programs. But having Office 2003 isn't a catastrophic risk like still running Windows XP would be.

zero-day that affects only office 2003 would likely never be patched though is the point and likely wouldn't even be reported to Microsoft because it is not supported. Which could mean it isn't in antivirus patterns. If it only affects 2003, you are left on your own. Not a lot of people using it though so the targets are smaller so that will be on your side.
This is assuming there is no way to bypass antivirus through obfuscation and going by track records, that isn't a good bet. Many articles to find showing how to bypass antivirus for known patters. The best policy is to make sure to keep your software updated. Again... you are free to do as you wish and not stay up on newer releases that are supported.

I'd say buying Office off of a thread with 90% replies either gushing or scaring people into buying it with brand new or ancient accounts with only a dozen or so posts isn't very secure either.

Buying anything from StackSocial is like buying from a guy in a back alley.

Don't trust that it will work in a year because you will never be able to track down the seller after a couple months.
