Best price ever on the 5600x? Picked one up when it was 170 on previous MC deal, this is FP no doubt.

Hopefully other stores will follow suit. Sad not being close to a micro center

With the GPU price dropping, is it now possible to buy a PC that is cheaper than those Dell/HP combo?

I have no issue with Dell/HP not able to upgrade in the future, since I mostly like dont need to upgrade them. Just want to find the cheapest PC, and I do not mind to buy it myself

Interesting - I've been thinking about building a gaming rig to use to run flight simulator 2020 in VR. I've built a number of systems in the past and historically ran them as a hackintosh, but its been a few years and looking to go a gaming route this time. Other than some leftover ITX cases, I'll be starting from scratch and haven't decided if I'll go AMD or Intel.

Would the 5800x or I7-12700k be recommended?

Recently moved near a Microcenter and would be a new customer.

My main issue with hp or Dell is not upgradeability, but quality. They use sub par components that barely meet the requirements for the main components they're running. For example they'll use a mother board that can barely handle an unlocked CPU but only at stock, so even if the CPU is unlocked and even if you might see the possibility to over clock your CPU via the bios, the VRM set up from an HP or Dell motherboard may not be able to deliver clean power to the CPU to sustain higher than stock clocks or they may not have adequate cooling or heat tolerance to run at higher clocks sustainably and reliably for a long time and thus cutting their life span. For office use those prebuilts are fine, but for enthusiast grade or high end 3d work stations they are usually not a good long term buy.

I think they check your ID at check-out in store. That's what they did when I went to pick up a gfx card.

for gaming I'd go with a 5600x unless you think you'll need the extra cores for rendering and such. the 5800x would only be marginally faster like a few percent most games don't use all the cores.

Bummer. Maybe I can get one through my wife but I think she might have bought stuff there before at one time.

I would like to upgrade my 2 year old Ryzen 2600x that I got 2 years ago but performance difference is not enough to justify the purchase. I am not liking Microcenter coupon deal where they check for new customer especially last time when I tried to redeem a coupon for the HP laptop last time. Besides, Ryzen 7000 series cpus are coming and prices of 5000 series will come down in price.

I think you may need a different phone number as well.

MC has had this deal for weeks. If they haven't followed suit yet, they probably won't.

Yeah most likely. Anyone know how long the coupon is good for once you receive it?
