I think the popular opinion is 27-32" 2k, < 32" 4k but to each their own. I have old eyes that can't tell the difference between 480p and 4k, 30fps from 100fps, etc.

This seems to be a new record low for a 240Hz IPS monitor. Also exactly one (1) month ago this exact monitor was selling for $240 via Amazon Treasure Truck.

Thinking of getting this for my daughter's new pc build (i5 12400 with a 3060 TI). Would this be good for that CPU/GPU combo, or should I hold out for a decent 1440p panel?
Oh if I haven't already own this monitor or one of the variation of this lg brand. I would jump on it right away before it's sold out. 1080p on this lg ips panel is awesome! Quality 10/10, and 1080p is much easier to push with mid range gpu than 2k. For 180$ Is a no Brainerd. I got my refurbished 144hz version. For 135$ last year and have not regretted it.

its not a huge difference but its noticeable. really depends on your use case. i wouldnt get too hung up on refresh rate alone because so many other things matter also
If you're going for a 27 inch monitor, I honestly recommend 1440p minimum.
DPI of 1080p 27" = 81 PPI
DPI of 1440p 27" = 108 PPI
DPI of 2160p 27" = 163 PPI
i agree, 27 inch is a weird size for 1080p but for media consumption is probably fine. things get to look not so sharp on text, reading , work but if thats not your use case then it doesnt matter.
I'm happy with 27" 1080p for most programs. (27" 1440p would be denser than 21" 1080p, which I already found uncomfortable on my first FHD monitor.) The only problem is websites seem increasingly designed with a 34" 1440p (or 24" 1080p) density in mind, and end up looking stupidly large on anything less, unless you zoom out to 80-90%. (See: Google News, Engadget, etc.)
240hz makes a huge difference if you play games. I can't go back to 60hz let alone 144hz after playing on 240hz for a few years. Everything just looks like butter, but you need to be able to push 200+ fps to really see the benefits. Good for competitive shooters like Valorant, CSGO, Apex, Fortnite, etc.
