****This was the Last Good Deal on this @Gamestop on 4/11/22>
I went for this deal last time it was posted but I ended up returning it because the one I received had obviously been opened. I thought about purchasing it again but I really don't like the idea that you have to login to the game portal (every 5 uses) in order to even use CoinOpsX. I mean it wouldn't be so bad but apparently it doesn't even retain your login credentials so you have to type them in every single time with the joystick… That's a major dealbreaker for me… If I have any of that wrong please let me know.
Even still it's a great system from everything I hear provided that you don't mind having to use the controller as a wired controller… (apparently the Bluetooth is pretty sketchy or at least just enough to make the game controls a little laggy).
If it weren't for these two things I think I would jump on it in a heartbeat… provided I didn't get someone elses return again, lol.

I created an account and don't have to login after every 5 times.
Grabbed one and bought a drop in stand - pretty much an arcade experience once you get it all set up, just need a separate monitor. I'm wall mounting a 27", and I'll be all set up.
Grab a USB 3.0 multi port so you can play wired with the controller and still stick in a USB storage drive.
I picked up the mini when it was posted here about a week ago. I loved the quality. I saw a couple of YouTube videos that said to update the firmware before gaming. I haven't had any issue with logging in. My account has stayed logged-in every time a play. I've played about 6 times. I ordered 120gb samsung fit flash drive and installed coinopsx. When I saw the gamerpro was back in stock a few days ago I couldn't resist and placed an order. Can't wait for it to come in and play 2 or 3 player games using the mini. The controller deck did become unpaired once but I was able to pair it up quickly.
No problems with mine and logging out... I had trouble keeping the Bluetooth sync but it went away and it works flawlessly wireless. Coinops is a little laggy in terms of scrolling between games but actual game play is good when I actually play with game mode on the tv....

I can at least help you with one of the two problems you have. Regarding logging into the system, You can lock in via QR code, which will bring up a login page on your cell phone that you can manually log in once and have the phone remember your username and password. So, When you are logged in next time, it would be so easy as you don't need to type in at all. Regarding the bt connection, I don't have any problems or notice any lagging at all. How far was your controller from the core? Mine is about 6 ft. Hope these help. It's a great console with CoinOpsX.

Thanks I appreciate the info. Like I said I returned mine because it was obviously someone elses returned item. From what I understand about the Bluetooth it can be hit or miss due to possibly internally different hardware? I don't really know for certain, it's just some people say it's god awful without USB and other peoples seem to have no problem at all…
Anyway, My biggest concern about the login is that if atgames goes out of business… or just forces an upgrade down the line then they can basically modify or remove the ability to play outside games…or charge for the feature. Since logins are currently required there are certainly ways that they could use to force an upgrade (if they wanted to go that way).
I have no reason to believe that they would ever do that, but I figure if I'm going to spend my time setting something up I might wanna go down the road of a retro pie or some thing that I know will permanently be usable and not at the whim of a corporation's desire to increase profits.
… and yeah I know it's probably pointless and paranoid and I probably would've just dealt with it if I didn't get an opened one, LOL! So just take my concerns with a grain of salt.
Who knows I might change my mind tomorrow and otherwise it does seem like a very popular and powerful and well-built system… This is not an attempt to dispute the value of the deal… just thinking out loud so to speak.

Worse case scenarios they block CoinOpsX or they go out of business. You still have a fairly good control stick that can be used with an RPI or PC.

Do you have a link to a drop in stand?

Here's one of the sources for my assumption regarding login requirement:

… and just to be clear… I'd love to be wrong about it !!!
