MSRP on Nvidia cards has become quite confusing since Nvidia has started undercutting their board partners like asus and evga. The founders edition MSRP is now almost always the lowest price point of any card of the line, then the 3rd party cards usually come in $50-300 over that MSRP price. Each manufacturer usually has different tiers of each card, where the coolers get bigger and they apply a higher over clock. FTW3 Ultra is EVGAs top sku, so if the market wasn't absurd, this card would indeed likely be ~$150 over at launch. Realistically with the supply issues, you will likely never find a 30 series card at MSRP (other than the FE cards) before the 40 series drops so you just have to decide if you need a card now and what your comfortable paying. This unfortunately is technically a decent price for this card right now, but almost all cards have been dropping weekly so now is probably not the greatest time to buy if you aren't in a rush

They actually have a bunch(25-ish). LHR I guess. ETH pos migration not happening in June, plus recent advancement on ETH miner (80% now with trex beta), is this the time?

Isn't msrp roughly $699? So even adding $150 for an aftermarket card brings this to $850 correct? Just started looking at this as a newbie... is there something I am missing?

Msrp $699 of what. 2 years ago? So yeah still overprice but it seems a deal cause of all miners and scalpers. If it wasnt cause of this we would be having deals of $500 or less 3080

Thanks very much for your reply and this made so much sense for someone new to all of this. I just watched a YouTube review on this card by gamer nexus who appears to be held to a high regard from what I've seen in the past 2 weeks. And he stated $810 for this msrp but that could've been the 10GB model... at any rate you have made a great point and I think I can hold of just a bit more and use my old pc before assembling my first build.

I have all the rest of the parts minus the GPU but I can also see if anything I've purchased in the last 2 weeks also falls in price and get a price match or return and repurchase.

When does the 40 series drop approximately? I'll use that as my deadline to purchase.

Nvidia has consistently released new cards every 2 years in September, so if they follow that pattern, 40 series *should* be here by October. If that does end up being the case and there isn't more terrible supply chain shenanigans, then you'll most likely start seeing prices of 3000 cards hitting their lowest around July/August as reatailers try to widdle down stock before it becomes the previous gen product.

Of course, nothing is normal anymore and it's all a gamble but generally a lot of people with his kinda money just wait for the newest/best card when it gets that close to launch so there hopefully should be stock of the 3000 cards that move closer to MSRP prices
