Was approved for this card @80K signup bonus a couple weeks ago. Some notes:
This is a great card for anyone who travels or plans to soon travel!
Call your local branch and see if they offer 80K signup + first year fee waived. If you do apply in branch, allot at least 30 minutes for this .
If you have a Peloton membership, note that the Preferred will credit you $60 total off fees, but I think only through June, so act quick!
I didn't get my card after a week, despite a 1-2 day delivery promise. I called in, and they said, oh, whoops, we forgot to ship it! (and they then indeed shipped it 2nd day air via UPS).
You'll get the most value from the 80K points BY FAR by transferring them strategically to airline/hotel partners (most often: United and Hyatt). Do some reading across blogs to learn more.
I know when I applied for this card, I did it in the branch and got a $125 grocery credit incentive. Basically every time I shopped at a grocery store I received a credit back until the $125 credit was maxed…. It may be worth it to call a banker & ask if they have that promo as it was only for in branch applications, not online & worth it to a trip to the bank, if you ask me!
I don't think there's been a better offer on the reserve in many years?
Outside of the SUB the CS > CSP used to be a no brainer, but with the higher AF on the CSR, and the improved benefits/earn on CSP it's a tougher choice now.
Today it's $155 more (removing the travel credit from the price difference) for CSR...
SUPER generously if we count the GE/TSA credit as $20 a year that drops it to $135/yr more for CSR.
For the $135 you get:
Priority Pass (still the good one that includes restaurants unlike Amex)
Marginally better travel insurance coverage
"free" roadside assitance (up to 4 calls a year, max $50 per call)
You do get significantly better purchase protection (10k per claim instead of $500- but then I'm buying most expensive stuff with a Citi card for 2 years of extra warranty anyway)
1.5x for your points in the travel portal vs 1.25 for CSP- but this is rarely a worthwhile use of points for most folks compare to transfers.
10x points (vs 5x on CSP) for cash spend in the travel portal or Chase Dining portals- but those again aren't frequently the ideal way to book for most folks anyway.
So as I say, when this was $35-55/yr it was easy... ONE 2 person use of priority pass at an airport restaurant more than covered this- if you get anything out of any other benefit you're golden.
At $135 it's much more marginal for many.

I opened it at branch yesterday where I inquired about the 100K points, the staff helping me said it was not available. Only perks of opening at bank is that they waive annual fee, expedite shipping the card to you and help create online account and add card onto your apple pay so that you can start using the card right away.
Thank you! My wife has the card so I am better off with the referral that gets 15000 pts than the annual fee waive at the branch.
Does anyone know if you can pay for things via Venmo or PayPal F&F and the like without paying fees like cash advance. Etc? I just got this card and I'm trying to get the $4,000 up quick. Have a handyman coming out to do some work and he takes cash app, zelle, PayPal, Venmo. Check or cash.
Want to try and use this card if possible.

I use my Chase Freedom Unlimited to pay people on Venmo all the time without issue. I'm sure it's the same with CSP

You only get charged the 3% fee and it counts as purchase and not cash advance correct? You send them money as friends/family and not use "Turn on as purchase" which would charge the receiver a 1.9% fee too.
Correct you're only charged the 3% fee by Venmo. You'll get rewards like any other purchase on your card. If you're sending money for a service I would use "Turn on as Purchase" to be safe

If I already met the $4K minimum and in my account it shows I have 80K point already can I just cash that amount now and then transfer the full balance over to another credit card that offers 0% balance transfer before the due date on this Chase card? My goal was to get the bonus right away since I was going to spend over $5K on Flooring material which I have done now.
Venture X is 75K points, the card gets double points, and you can transfer to Avianca to book StarAlliance flight deals. The fee is higher at $450ish, but $300 comes back when you book anything through travel.capitalone.com, which is not a bad site. You get priority pass and a handful of other things that help offset the cost. I just completed the $10K spend in 6 months requirement, not too bad. Now it's $4k in 3 months for 75K points, even easier. plus Global Entry, and 10K bonus miles every year.
What does the 80K or 75K points even mean here? Do they translate to about by 100 dollars ie $800 worth of cash? Where can we spend those points/dollars? Only on airline /any airline?
I have a Southwest chase card which I get points that can only be spent on buying airline tickets from Southwest. For this card 100 points = $1.

These type of cards have a more flexible system than the dedicated airline cards. You can redeem points for cash, travel credits through their portals, or transfer to many partner programs such as airlines, hotels, etc. You can check out the card sites to see the specific ways you can use the points, but their power is in their flexibility. I use them for airfare, which tends to offer the best bang for the buck. HTH
anyone know how to find out if you're eligible for the bonus points? I had a sapphire preferred years ago and have never been able to figure out when my 5 years has passed to be eligible again. TIA
I believe it is 4 years (48 months) from from last time sapphire bonus was received.
They said they aren't waiving fees. Has anyone had success?
I applied in branch ~4 hrs after your post and was able to get the annual fee waived . The terms on the computer in branch actually says so though I couldn't find it online

Pretty sure you can and if you can apply in a branch, you should be able to avoid the 1st annual fee.
