Was approved for this card @80K signup bonus a couple weeks ago. Some notes:
This is a great card for anyone who travels or plans to soon travel!
Call your local branch and see if they offer 80K signup + first year fee waived. If you do apply in branch, allot at least 30 minutes for this .
If you have a Peloton membership, note that the Preferred will credit you $60 total off fees, but I think only through June, so act quick!
I didn't get my card after a week, despite a 1-2 day delivery promise. I called in, and they said, oh, whoops, we forgot to ship it! (and they then indeed shipped it 2nd day air via UPS).
You'll get the most value from the 80K points BY FAR by transferring them strategically to airline/hotel partners (most often: United and Hyatt). Do some reading across blogs to learn more.
I know when I applied for this card, I did it in the branch and got a $125 grocery credit incentive. Basically every time I shopped at a grocery store I received a credit back until the $125 credit was maxed…. It may be worth it to call a banker & ask if they have that promo as it was only for in branch applications, not online & worth it to a trip to the bank, if you ask me!
I don't think there's been a better offer on the reserve in many years?
Outside of the SUB the CS > CSP used to be a no brainer, but with the higher AF on the CSR, and the improved benefits/earn on CSP it's a tougher choice now.
Today it's $155 more (removing the travel credit from the price difference) for CSR...
SUPER generously if we count the GE/TSA credit as $20 a year that drops it to $135/yr more for CSR.
For the $135 you get:
Priority Pass (still the good one that includes restaurants unlike Amex)
Marginally better travel insurance coverage
"free" roadside assitance (up to 4 calls a year, max $50 per call)
You do get significantly better purchase protection (10k per claim instead of $500- but then I'm buying most expensive stuff with a Citi card for 2 years of extra warranty anyway)
1.5x for your points in the travel portal vs 1.25 for CSP- but this is rarely a worthwhile use of points for most folks compare to transfers.
10x points (vs 5x on CSP) for cash spend in the travel portal or Chase Dining portals- but those again aren't frequently the ideal way to book for most folks anyway.
So as I say, when this was $35-55/yr it was easy... ONE 2 person use of priority pass at an airport restaurant more than covered this- if you get anything out of any other benefit you're golden.
At $135 it's much more marginal for many.

So its totally worth it to pay the annual fee of $95 year because you can get 25% more in total travel correct? is this what i'm hearing?
Depends on your yearly spending on the card. Here is a calculator I found after a quick search, seems to be correct. Plug in your spending and see what the card is worth based on your spending.
If I already met the $4K minimum and in my account it shows I have 80K point already can I just cash that amount now and then transfer the full balance over to another credit card that offers 0% balance transfer before the due date on this Chase card? My goal was to get the bonus right away since I was going to spend over $5K on flooring material which I have done now.
Yes, as long it has been more than 4 years since you received your last bonus.
I was approved and activated the card 4 years ago, but I didn't get the bonus until a couple months later. Do I need to wait until 4 years from when I received the bonus, or can I apply now since its already been 4 years since I signed up for the card?
I went with trepidation to local branch(first time from mid nineties, had Internet banks since then) expecting a lot of push and sales speeches but procedure was quite painless. At the front door was asked what I am here for, then local manager stepped out, and brought me to the office. Just read card benefits, asked if I had this card within 48 months (nope, I am tracking all my application in google spreadsheet but he did not need to know about that), asked for proof of identity (license and any credit card), typical questions. Took 20 min or so, worth saving annual fees.
Trying to get this card for my wife. There is a $150 referral bonus for me if i do that and she gets the 80K points. However if she signs up online she will have to pay the annual fee for the 1st year. Does anyone know if i can get this referral bonus by having us go in to the bank and getting her signed up?

Apply in branch and have the annual fee waived. If you don't spend the points by next anniversary date then downgrade to one of the $0 annual fee cards (Freedom unlimited, Freedom Flex) to prevent a hit to your credit score and also keep the spending limit.

That wasn't the case last year. You can't sign up in branch and also use a referral, it's one or the other.
The clock starts from the date your were credited the bonus points.

Maybe?
If you're definitely using the portal, and spending at least 38k points, then yes.
Transfers to airlines or hotels are often an even better way to get value out of the point though, and you'd potentially need to use even fewer points to make up the annual fee (only Chase cards with an annual fee allow transfers)
For example it's pretty easy to get >2 cents a point on flights or hotels this way, meaning to make up a $95 fee you'd only need to transfer a little under 9500 in points, if you're getting >2 cents a point in value, to make the annual fee worth it.
Likewise over on the CSR, net the travel credit the annual fee is $250.... but you get a bunch more benefits (free priority pass including some restaurants for example, plus lyft and door dash memberships and credits, which may or may not make it worth it (and also get 50% portal bonus if you're sticking to the portal) that may or may not make it worth it

Interesting. I never ran across that section on the Chase page before but my offer is only for 80,000 points. They must like you better than me.
I had already gotten the 80,000 point deal via the branch so my feelings aren't too hurt.
