AirPods Pro: current regular price 174.99
Same day price 179.99. Markup $5 or under 3%.
Discount takes it $129.99 + tax n tip.
If an order has a certain amount of TIP attached to it, the tip will be the full payout only, and we will not be providing additional payment. We will only provide payment on orders where the tip doesn't cover the full order or only a small tip was added, in both cases we will then supplement from our side.
Here's the kicker, we will not be lowering our fees that we charge to the customer or the fees that we charge the business for processing the orders on our platform. So we're essentially taking advantage of the tipping culture to cover delivery, and we're pocketing what we would have paid in today's model.
We have spent millions on marketing "to tip" our drivers, so we can then remove our compensation from the system and make it tips only.

Not bad deal, just paid $170 or so from Costco a couple months ago.

Again, I am a generous tipper, but let's not blame us consumers for this mess.
The Instacart tactic is used by many Non-profits. Non-profits will show the picture or run a story of someone with a terminal disease or not having clean water to drink or animals that are getting butchered; all of this to make the viewer feel guilty and shell out money to the non-profit.
I find services like Instacart to be the same. On paper they create employment and a way for the jobless to earn an income, but in reality all they are created for is to give owners/shareholders more profits by squeezing the small guy who is already in a rut.

Having said that, I almost always follow tipping convention when eating out, because it is socially unacceptable not to, and we are all suckers to peer pressure. But I get a little irritated at the tip jars popping up all over. If you are handing me my meal in a bag over the counter, you've done your JOB. That's not grounds for tipping.
