Parent company enjoys higher profits from not having to pay contractors (delivery) a reasonable wage.
People defend the practice because the drivers need the money (true). However, the best way to get these drivers paid reasonably would be to stop tipping them entirely, forcing the company to go under from mass quitting, or improve wages. But that wont happen because to many it feels wrong to not tip.

I didn't have my expectations very high, but dang, this is just stupid slow.
Edit: So, I just tried copying from my Toshiba 4TB 2.5" external directly to this Seagate and got write speeds of +130 MB/s. on a 3 GB file.
Any idea why it would then be so slow from my internal SSD?

If you're using Windows, you need to change the "Removal Policy" setting on the Seagate drive to "Better Performance". You can do this through Windows' Device Manager >>Disk Drives >> right-click on Seagate drive >> Properties >> Policies tab >> select Better Performance.
I just found a solution, so at least I'm getting decent speeds. I had to change the "Removal Policy" from "Quick Removal" to "Better Performance". Now I'm getting testing write speeds of 188MB/s--a 617% increase from before!!

instacart membership
As far as I can tell, there was no required Instacart membership sign up or any obligatory annual membership renewal language in this Costco deal. Can you point to where this is mentioned anywhere?
Are you referring to this specific deal, or a Costco/ Instacart purchase you made in the past where your annual auto-renewal takes place next month? I don't understand how anyone who bought this hard drive would have an Instacart membership, which I don't think I signed up for, renew a couple months after the initial purchase.
Please provide specifics on your Instacart membership that is auto-renewing and whether it was due to getting this particular hard drive deal.
From what I can tell, the $79 may refer to an Instacart Express membership bought through Costco, and I think that's completely separate from this deal.
EDIT: In other words, are you saying that everyone who got this deal will now be charged $79 every year starting next month?
EDIT 2: Here is a link to info regarding linking an Instacart Express account to your Costco account, which seems to activate a free 2-month Instacart Express membership--which may convert to an annual $79 membership after the initial 2 months:
https://www.instacart.c
The question is, are all the people who got in on this deal enrolled in the "trial" 2-month Instacart Express account?
EDIT 3: I've attached a screen shot of this Costco/Instacart Express page:
https://sameday.costco.
It seems to show that if you sign up for Instacart EXPRESS you do get 2 free months and a 7% discount, and then after that you are charged $79/year. But it appears one must actively subscribe to that Express membership in order to be charged the $79.
AND, it appears you can cancel at any time--and it looks like if you cancel Instacart Express before the 2 months, you are not charged anything at all? Right???
Cancel anytime

Was that the case for SD member MusicShark?
