Man Dyson makes too many models. Do they make a model and then when a new version comes out they just make the new one more expensive and keep the old one around? I can't tell if should step up to the V10 or not.
Agreed. I used to recommend Dyson to everyone, but now I can't do that because I don't know the difference among all the models.
It's the soft roller that really makes the difference for hard surfaces…it's really the main key piece. I did extensive research in the past up until they released the V10.

The V8 battery life is significantly less then the V10 along with the price tag. Otherwise their are small nuanced differences. The absolute versions include both the brush roller head and soft roller. The attachments in these higher tier versions (absolute vs their basic) are really overkill.

For battery life think about how long your actually vaccum on time will be….it ends up not being a lot. Ex I bought 2 dyson refurbished (eBay) v6 absolutes for $280 + tax 4 years ago. I have 2200sqft with 50/50 carpet/hard wood… between the both of them it's enough to do the whole place. One is dying very soon.

If I recall correctly, after the V6 most of the next versions had The major issues worked out (easier to empty bin, HEPA filter etc).

The nice thing about Dyson is the prevalence of cheap 3rd party batteries! If what you meant your battery is dying.
I agree and v8 is the one to get. Combine this and Milwaukee 12amp battery, I can easily clean 4k+ sqft without worrying about power. Adapter is less than 30.

Was thinking the same thing… I'd considerate it but most of my floors are carpet. Doesn't seem like it's interchangeable either, which is kinda crazy for the price.

I used to buy Dyason. Now I don't anymore for two reasons. First Dyson's batteries didn't live up to the high prices. Both my D7 and D8 are useless now because of dead batteries and it is hard and expensive to find replacement OEM batteries. Second, there are many other brands out there with similar functions and lower prices. I recently bought a Shark cordless vacuum for about $150. It has been working great for about half a year. If the machine works for a year or longer, I would consider it a better choice than Dysons. Finger crossed.

Dang, I bought my V8 absolute a few years back for $199 at BB&B, I guess I must have gotten a pretty good deal at the time

I'm so confused about Dyson models. I also bought the V8 absolute a few years ago and it has the fluffy and regular brushheads. Is this one pretty much the same? Is it worth upgrading to the 10 or whatever?

You can buy ten plug-in Dirt Devil or Bissell stick vacs for what this one costs. You also never have to worry about running out of charge. You can all beat me up now, but I have an extra $270 in my pocket by buying the Dirt Devil.

because this is the model for hard floors, if you have carpet, you buy the model for carpet. Some people don't want to pay extra for heads they don't want or need. You can say a lot of things, but I don't understand how you can hate on a company for giving options.

Because for that price I'd expect a vacuum to be more versatile, since when are are vacuums hard floor or carpeted only? Everyone I've had could do both no problem. But hey to each their own

Then buy the one that includes both heads, again I don't understand your complaint, the fact that they make specific ones for intended use? They sell one that does both carpet and hard floor.

Is this better than LG A916 I bought from Costco for $349? I am going to use vacuum on hardwood and tile only.
the Costco LG comes with a universal nozzle that isn't great for everything, but it will work for hard floor
lg Sells a separate fluffy head for hard floors if you want it

this dyson comes only with the hard floor fluffy head, so it's meant for hard floors only. It was designed that way, and for people that only want hard floor cleaning

Agree on pricing. I purchased two V7 fluffy last year for $200 each. Disagree about not being replacements. The V7s can tackle everything except for what you might want a shopvac for. Presumably V8s are even better.
If you think an over powered dust buster is cleaning your carpet well you're highly mistaken. Maybe you don't have pets and only hard surfaced floors. I'd suggest going to a real vacuum store and seeing how it compares. Or check out vacuum wars on youtube.

It just went off sale on the 10th, it was $70 off online and in store.
I would prefer V10 animal too, the price is back to 449.99 now.
