Avoid this one. Too many design flaws (overheating, pin connection disconnect when shaking, etc). One RS would give you a better user experience.
If you insist to use this, I would recommend buying a SmallRig Metal Cage. That's the only way I can run 4k60 until the battery dies. Still hot to touch at the end though.

Thanks for this, I've read the exact same across the forums. It's a shame because the form factor is great.

Seems like all these small cameras gets overheat due to their small size. Is there any out there that doesn't overheat?

It got more under control. But overheating comes from the physical limitation (bigger sensor size and higher bitrate), that's in the design could not be fixed by firmware.
Even though I am waiting for the official cooling case, I am not expecting it would work, since any cooling shield material does not absorb heat. I tried a few different cases and metal cages ( Telesin, SmallRig, etc) They all work. But it's not worth your time and money. DJI obviously cheaped out at the design/test phases.

Yeah I have a GoPro hero 10 that has known overheating issues at high bitrates and resolution but to be fair, haven't had any issues myself and have recorded as much as up to 30min in one recording.

I know GoPro now offers new batteries that should assist with reducing overheating as well but haven't tried those.

I'm with GoPro now. But with the previous Dji action camera, it got dramatically better with software upgrades.

Insta360 would be my pick, however I think the Insta360 One RS 4k edition would be the comparable model to the DJI.

Gopro Hero 7 black is a good one IMO, or the Insta360 One R

Depends what you will use it for...

Quick and dirty run down..

-Insta360 go v1 (1080p) okay but no where near as good as action 2 (4k).

-Insta360 go v2 is a much better camera than instago v1. Depending on what you plan on using your camera for, and want to save money, Insta360 v2 (2.7k) could be the ticket. Still not as good as the dji action 2 however. ****Never seen the dji action 2 (4k) camera this cheap and quite frankly not sure how they are selling it at this price as dji usually doesn't like retailers undercutting other retailers. Instago v2 255$ at bestbuy, dji action 2 gamestop $319****

-Gopro hero 7, 8, 9, 10...all better than action 2 and instago.

-Another small form factor camera that just released is the gopro hero 10 bones (smaller and lighter camera/only 54grams), Gopro hero 10 bones (gopro's official naked go pro. engineered for fpv pilots, so it doesn't have an onboard battery.) If I was getting it for kwads and form factor, I'd either get gopro hero 10 bones, or
dji action 2. Then if I needed smaller form factor, I'd go with an Instago v2.

The official case is already out (DJI Action 2 Magnetic Protective Case). I fly kwads and fly with my action 2 and have no issues with heat, as my kwad is constantly moving. I have heard about the overheating issues when recording in 4k stationary and not sure if the case actually helps or not, but it's out, so we should see some reviews soon.

I own the Action 2 and use it regularly. It takes fantastic video, but as it has been pointed out here, it definitely has it flaws. The Action 1, however, is better and even rivals the GoPro 10. With the original Action, you don't have to worry about overheating on 4k or that strange pixelated/blurry shots the GP takes (especially in low light). Yes, the Action 1 has it's faults, but since it's release 2-3 years ago, sill holds up like a champ compared to newer products.
