Although technically this is a deal ($100 off a new Apple product), I recommend looking at some video reviews like that from LTT and others before purchasing. Though it's a fine display, there are others with much better features for much better prices as well and this monitor is only really recommend for a select few of Apple users.
Which monitors are better than 5K and 218 PPI? The only such monitor I know of is Dell's 8K monitor, which costs $3,700.

Or when you wrote "much better features", were you referring to features like refresh rate? The Studio Display is for professionals, not gamers, and professionals care much more about resolution and PPI than refresh rate.
I think Eragorn is just saying that "you probably don't need this, and you want to spend your money elsewhere". Even among slickdeals users who frequently participate in discussions of computers and peripherals, I doubt 1% are actually going to put their money down for this monitor. A monitor like HP Z27k G3 is probably the most a non-gaming user here will need, and I bet most are using a 1080p 24'' monitor, if they use a monitor at all.

Regarding features -- height adjustment is a very obvious feature that is missing here. Lots of monitors that cost > $500 have a better stand than this, and honestly the stand on a Dell U2415H, a 24'' 1200p Dell monitor that cost me $200 a few years ago, is even much more versatile. I don't understand why your comment focuses on refresh rate -- did anyone ask for that?

Yes but then you'd have a monitor that is half as good for half the price. Which adds up.

I would purchase Gigabyte M32U at any time over this monitor.

Thanks OP - really like that Display. Not sure why people have to post if they have nothing good to say. Just move on people. Annoying.

I don't think this monitor is worth it just based on other options and their price points. I use 2 Asus ProArt displays with a Mac Studio and find them color accurate and a good price point. I wouldn't call this monitor a bad product, it's just priced like an apple product and there are other great options out there for less money. But if you want to be all Apple then you might as well get a small discount and get it now.

MKBHD did a video on this and summed it up by saying it's a bad deal. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yoigsHYc77s

TL;DR its not a special monitor but they did put together a few things that others haven't. If you really want those things, then this is your monitor. But if you don't need the special combo then there's way cheaper options. Its a good balanced video, worth a watch before spending $1500.

It's more of, it's a good deal for what it is because there's nothing like it. But the imac has been out with a 5k display for like five years and you get a whole computer with the imac for the same price with a 5k display.

Any comparisons to 4k monitors here completely misses the point. Yes, it's overpriced for what it is, and the LG Ultrafine 5k can be found at a much better price point if that's the main concern.

That said, for Mac users who need a true 2x up scaling in a display, and want the best build quality available with the best resale value in the future, this is the only option on the market. Thus, Apple can charge what they want, as they so often do. Smilie
