Good deal, but the 512GB is the limiting factor. The pros should come standard with 1TB now-a-day. I can't even update my 512GB MacBook Pro to the new OS without deleting some major stuff. Definitely a hassle.
Agreed.. l wish they would have shifted these configurations around and made the base a 1tb model and then have the mid model be a 32gb M1 Pro and then the high end be an M1 Max.

Isn't this is just $50 lower than previous sale price (saw $1800 before)?

I guess it depends on what kind of user you are. My 2015 Macbook air 128gb has served me well for almost 7 years now. I myself would have been content with the base model coming with 256 gb for $1800 with $250 off that when deals come around.

The reason to not do it makes sense. Right now the base model MBP is $2K MSRP. Having it be $2.2K probably doesn't look as good and isn't what Apple wants. I don't know shit about sales and stuff, but I can see how $2K is a nice number and already pricey for the base MBP

If you're looking to get a MacBook with the M1 chip, get the 14" instead of the 13". You'll definitely get more for your money.

This is the baseline 14"
8-Core CPU
14-Core GPU
16GB Unified Memory
512GB SSD Storage

If you use it for work or do any sort of video editing, do a slight upgrade. It's worth it in the long run. I think this is the sweet spot.
10-Core CPU
16-Core GPU
16GB Unified Memory
1TB SSD Storage¹

I LOVE THE M1 CHIP!! It's so efficient it can last over 15 hours under a good amount of usage! I never have to bring the heavy MacBook charger with me!

Meh. If I'm spending close to $2,000 I want at least 1TB SSD and 32GB RAM.

These have dipped down to this sale price a few times, at Amazon, Microcenter, Best Buy and maybe some others. BB and Amazon's sales seem to have usually coincided, but I don't see BB currently offering it this low (probably because Amazon's advertised price is still higher, and you have to go to checkout to see the discount). I've come close to pulling the trigger a bunch of times, but I want the same-day gratification of just picking it up at a local store.

Yes depends on type of user, but the air I don't complain about because most people buying the air are probably not power users who need the space. This is a MacBook Pro which is suppose to be geared towards pro users which in this day and age 512GB is definitely not pro level. 5 years ago? sure 512GB might suffice for a pro user. Today? definitely not IMO. It is apples way of getting people to upgrade and also to build more laptops to get economy of scale discount. win win for apple in their books, but not so much for its users.

No touch screen. What is up with that?
Trust me you will like it, I have been using 13 inch M1 from last year...touch screen is not that useful..you have to touch extra for volume / brightness adjustments ...recently bought a 14inch ...feels so much better to have physical keys
