Anyone know the GPU wattage? There's up to a 2x variance in the 3060 mobile based on TDP. Great processor, looks attractive.

That's because it's ASUS TUF that identifies as an Acer Nitro...

Laptop pricing is amazing.

Can you build a desktop computer with equivalent specs for the same price? Even if you omit the display, keyboard, and mouse it seems like it might be tough.

Looks like it's 80W. This article mentions the boost limit was 85W but was raised to 100W via firmware?

Right *now*, surprisingly, yes. 3060s can be had at just over $400, and as long as you don't go nuts on the other components, you can get it built under $900. Won't include a monitor, though, at least not one worth having.

You have to think of the long term , as the desktop can be upgraded while you are stuck with that you have in the laptop. The life span is simply longer on a desktop if built right compared to laptops. Each has its pros and cons

If you use an equivalent 5600X and 3060, you can get pretty close. I got the cost to about $1000, but if I had all of my preferred parts, it would go up to 1400. By that I mean cooler, motherboard, case, RAM and storage.

Desktop 3060 and Laptop 3060 are actually pretty close in performance. If you don't care about upgrading in 2 years and don't wanna buy a monitor, then the laptop is a no-brainer.
