I own the s9+. The worst purchase decision I have ever made. Crappy software and fragile hardware and expensive supplies and more…

I had this vacuum and here are my unsolicited 2 cents. The suction on this is amazing, and the dual-brush design is excellent at picking up hair and debris. The clean base also works great. With that said-navigation on it is horrendous (it'll get stuck every time you run it), it's terribly loud, and can take HOURS to vacuum the same amount of area it takes LIDAR-based vacuums a fraction of the time to do. Also, the replacement accessories are outrageously priced, and the generic replacement accessories are all horrible. The official brushes get torn up in no time, and are not cheap at all to replace. The app is good and well thought-out.

I sold it and bought a Roborock S7 with the auto-empty, and I've never looked back, though not perfect.

Same price on the iRobot site. Also, check Amex Offers for $100 off $500 at iRobot.

My 1st floor has an area with carpet and the rest with tiles. Can these recognize or be programmed to run vacuum on all areas and to mop only the tile area?

No, the i8 is equivalent to i7. S9 is different (it has 4x suction of i7, and S9 is D shaped with longer rollers instead round i7, so theoretically sucks up more duston corners

There are more complaints about the S9 though
I rather have the option to return back to Costco after a longer term evaluation than amazon's 30 days.

I don't think anything on the market is going to be 100% so if running the Costco version 2x (not that I have to) is 95% as good as S9 I'll take Costco's return policy even if it cost more than Amazon's deal but in this case Costco cost less.

The robot vacuum and mop actually operate separately (only link= you can schedule mop to start after vacuum finishes). Both have option to add keep out areas once the mapping completes

the mop is actually quite fussy and typically detects& avoid carpets. you can add keep out zone to make sure it stays out

I take it your dog isn't that old. No matter how well trained, age gets us all. If this is a feature you don't need now, great. Save a few bucks. But when your dog reaches its senior years, there will be accidents, and you'll be happy to pay extra for poop detection.

Dog or human, getting old sucks, but it beats the alternative.

Not trying to TC and I've personally only had experience with the Neato Robotics Botvacs. I prefer the vacs that use Lidar. Came across the new model from Roborock and am giving it a try. Eagerly awaiting the Ultra dock (which will make the Roborock about $1169 or $170 more expensive than this deal). However, the Roborock has a front camera in addition to Lidar to help with obstacle (poop) avoidance.

I love my roborock s7. The emptier fails a lot though. I hope the ultra reworks that. It's still an amazing product regardless.

There's a very specific way you have to clip the brush housing back onto it. Also, check for clogs. If you flip over the base, theres a screw driver and the path where debris goes is clear. Take a look, maybe something is lodged in there.

Can't speak for dogs as I have none, but in over a year of ownership mine has never gotten stuck on cords or failed to return home. Sometimes it has even returned home without me wanting it to 😂 (like 5 mins into a job and the memory is full. To be fair though, furniture moves daily in my space so the roomba is constantly having to resave new maps).

I bought both of these about 5 months ago and they have been amazing. I researched robo vacs for weeks and the iRobots were the best in everything I read. Bona makes some microfiber pads for the Braava Jet that are way better than the ones it comes with. They are only sold on iRobot's site so they take forever to get to you but worth it.

I have 4 kids and after Easter my house was destroyed with nerds and all sorts of small candies. I let both of these do their thing and went to sleep. Woke up to a spotless floor. The Braava Jet won't get real tough stuff off of the floor though. I spray the spots with some household cleaner before I start it and that seems to do the trick.
