I have this hammer and it's fine. It's nothing special.
As for the face of the hammer, your options are generally convex or milled/waffle faced. The convex face makes it easier to hammer your nail in without marring the wood, whereas the milled face lets you go nuts without worrying too much about perfect strikes every time. A flat face on a hammer meant for general use would not be a good idea and would not indicate quality to me.
Decent hammer. I picked one up fir $7 about a year ago when Ollie's had a bunch of Irwin tools at closeout prices. Probably just overstock, but still a good hammer.
Just received mine today. Looks good next to other Irwin stuff I bought over time. Liked the plastic handle and almost flat design. Also own similarly priced 16oz Pittsburg brand hammer from HF, but this one feels better in hand
Oh why not! I just bought a 20 oz framing hammer because I broke the wooden handle on my last one, but I seem to be always looking for a hammer for one reason or another.
If I had a hammer..........come on everybody SING!
I'd go out on the the ocean, and if I had an ocean, I'd hammer on my boat. And we could all repair things, right out there on the ocean, me there with my hammer on a boat.
