I bought this exact model last April, it's a 100w 3060 and will timespy around 8500 overclocked. It came with Samsung memory and does 47.x MH. I wound up putting in a 1tb ssd into the extra slot cause 512 is pretty tiny once you start installing a few games. I also got an omen 17 with the 11800h and 135w 3060 and the increased wattage shoes fairly minimal gains in games, timespy is like 9500 but the physics score with the extra two physical cores are making up most of the difference. That one came with hynix ram and won't go much above 40MH. Both machines are impressive for the price, $849 here is a no brainier vs the bottom tier 3060 msi and other machines you'll see bestbuy drop to $799 occasionally. for reference I paid $1050 for this machine with epp last year and the 17 was on the $999 microcenter sale like two months ago. Edit: Here's both Time Spy scores with a gpu oc https://www.3dmark.com/compare/sp.../24862839#
Similar to the recent Gigabyte G5 for $850, but with better thermals, a better chassis and better battery life (Ryzen and bigger battery). No mux switch, and apparently wattage is capped to keep temperatures low, but for $850, this is a pretty darn good deal.

Only real negative is HP may charge you a restocking fee on returns.

My one weird gripe about this laptop is the front edge where your wrists sit are abnormally sharp. Maybe they fixed it? I had the 1660ti version.

Other than that it's a terrific laptop with really good cooling and it's actually very silent when not gaming.

A good price for an OMEN laptop if you don't want to wait for a back to school sale or a BF sale.

That's a 10th gen CPU, so this Ryzen will be better unless you're into undervolting and such. Not sure if that's even possible on the Nitro model though.

16 GB should be plenty if you're using this for games and yes like most gaming laptops it's upgradable

I have an hp omen with Ryzen 4800h. Fantastic notebook with two nvme slots and two upgradesble memory slots. I would consider this one but I refuse to order from ho direct. They do not ship on time.

The screen wobble is a deal breaker.

Agreed. Also a fair warning if its the same chassis. My keyboard from the 2020 version slowly started to go to shit. If you google 'hp omen 2020 r key not working' you will see a bunch of comments around the same thing. Still a great value though, but fair warning
