If you need 30 bags or more, you get bulk price of $1.78 per bag.
Notes on mulch:
Lay it when you expect sun and no rain for a couple days. The mulch is bagged before the colorant is dry, and it only sticks to the mulch once dried/cured. If it rains or gets wet before drying, the color will rinse off. So water your plants before putting this down. A couple days of sun will cure it well.
Mulch, regardless of brand, is sourced locally in each region. These brands all just send bags to the local source. So Scotts in one region may be great and bad in another, same for Vigoro, etc.
Last year I was annoyed that Scotts went to 1.5cu ft for the same price and went with Vigoro. At least in my area, I found the quality to be nearly identical, if not identical. They probably come from the same place. They all fade before 12 months but my area gets direct sun all day, and it still has its color at the end of the year, just not as vibrant. You can make it last longer by raking/turning it but you have to do it every couple months or it dries into hard clumps that are hard to deal with.
Check the bags as sometimes they put out a pallet from last year, which will likely be moldy. I've never seen a date code on the bags so you just have to look for one with a hole in it (or look through the clear parts) and make sure you don't see white stuff. There are typically multiple pallets outside, inside, etc. I also look for ones that have the deepest color and less large chunks. It can vary quite a bit from pallet to pallet. Along the same lines, get all your bags from the same pallet so you don't have any color variation.
I did use the scotts triple shred one year when it was on sale at lowes, I did like it a little better, but it doesn't seem to go on sale anymore and I don't like it enough to pay double for it.
