IBM Model M keyboard users?
PS2 input is a direct connection. The protocal is different than USB.

To be absolutely pedantic, is this connection faster than USB? Yes.

To be absolutely realistic, is this connection noticeably faster? No, hell no.

There is also the fun fact a PS2 connection bypasses the 6 key rollover limit USB has, which MAY be used in games like flight simulators with hundreds of controls, but likely not useful for 99.99% of gamers.

Anyways... this is why they make and market Mobos with old school PS2 ports.

I just picked up two "BNIB" i7-12700Ks from a local connection - said his uncle worked at a tech firm that got them wholesale. $400 for both. Picked up a Gigabyte Z690 for $200 from Amazon. Gonna build wifey new Win-11 capable machine with one of them and may upgrade my i9-11900K machine with the other. Not ready to make the jump to DDR 5 just yet. But this looks like a decent package.
So tell us where to buy them for $200/each. This is Slick Deals, not Slick Connections.

Thanks for this. I did not know this. Guess this old tech is still useful to some.

I don't recommend Asus z690p, instead my experience tells me MSI z690a is a better option

Need some help from the computer people. Should i get this bundle or get a i9 12900k. My friend is selling his for 300. Is that better than getting the bundle because then i would still need to get the motherboard and ram on my own.I have a 10 year old computer so i don't know whats good now. Thanks.

A lot of boards still have a PS/2 connection. Until recently they were still really popular with professional gamers due to the lowest latency and high reliability. They're also handy when you have driver issues, as it's driverless and will always work even in the BIOS with zero drivers installed. A lot of the highest end boards have a PS/2 connection.

Lowest I have seen it is like $327 and I got mine for $317 with $10 best buy coupon. I then sole my 5900x and b550, sealed, for about $480 after fees. But now I may regret it because it's impossible to find a good itx mobo for 12700k without spending an insane amount just to go from amd to intel... So I dunno what to even do now. if dr5 were CURRENTLY truly better I'd maybe get a ddr5 board, but also that b660 asus strix itx looks nice, but then I'd have the no oc....
You sound like a high end user, so you would probably want to wait for the next gen. Next gen AMD will have a new socket, and 13th gen Intel, they may have improved the insane power draw on their CPUs.

PS/2 has 0 input lag. I don't use it, but I understand why someone would.
