Also, SFO is almost always the cheapest place to originate to Tahiti. If you don't live in SFO, it's often cheaper to buy a separate round-trip to SFO rather than to fly directly to Tahiti from your departure city.
I will say to give yourself a minimum of 2 hours at PPT airport when you go back to the US because we just made it to the gate about 10-15 minutes before they started boarding. Even though we had a really early flight and got there with 1.5 hours to spare before departure, it was easily a 45 minute wait to check in even without checked bags. Unfortunately, there was no self service kiosk.
