The green drives are getting cleared out. Something about the nand being used having a very, very low total terabytes writable number and a seriously reduced warranty.

IIRC, the drives are basically made to work for about 5-6 years before turning to crap. I was looking at this drive last week and passed on it.

I got one of the teamgroup ram+ gen4 1tb ssd deals from amazon. Much better drive for not much more $.

Thank you, looked it up and it's rated for 80TBW. Think that's about as low as I've seen it. Very sad.

Was hoping the "green" part would make it run cool and be good for my laptop but going with Samsung 980 (non-Pro) instead for a little bit more (after cashback and EPP)

Yeah, I nearly bit on a 2tb drive for about $150 last week. Thought that was a great deal.

And then I saw tons of people returning it when they saw the low TBW.

Okay for an external thunderbolt or usb 3.2 drive in an enclosure, that's just used for backups or on occasion.

And for a few dollars more, you can get something better than WD's worst binned flash.

If you want cool, check out the Hynix Gold SSD's. They use a pretty dense flash and as a result, they don't run that hot. I got one of their 1tb nvme drives. Runs so cool it doesn't even need a heatsink. Perfect for laptops.

Yeah looked at the P31 and just seemed like the price is not really dropping and couldn't find enough info on S31.

They sure haven't. I think I paid about $150-160 when those first launched.

But check out the power efficiency. Large SLC cache, that really helps performance. Faster than a 970 evo plus.

I agree this isn't a good deal given the drives low reliability. You can get better drives for this price.

BUT... I would say that for probably 90%+ of people the reliability of this drive is perfectly fine and would literally last them decades. e.g. I'm sitting at 4.4TBW in the past year+. And when they do fail SSDs don't actually lose the data.
Do a lot of you have particular usage cases where you actually do need high TBW ?

Again, I'd buy a diff drive than this at this price but I doubt the TBW # is relevant for most.
