Something to do with they have to pay license fee to Sony for using HDMI. But Displayport is free for them.

The fees are miniscule from what I can find online, either flat rate for a large volume or as little as cents per device. Maybe there's a higher cost for the port? Shouldn't be. That stuff should be built into the card. As it is, I have only ever owned one device with a displayport in, but I have plenty more with HDMI in.
