Nah. 4ah vs 1.5 ah battery. Full size recip vs one hand. Lights don't have motors. Ryobi oscillators aren't too great in any version. The drill is a non issue, esp. considering the versions included in these kits. Your set was cheaper, has more tools, and more battery capacity. Around the house with the particular tools in these sets you won't notice a difference outside of that smaller second battery. The difference brushless provides doesn't work out to anything meaningful with the way these bundles are set up.

If someone is using a tool so much that they're wearing out brushes, they're likely a professional who uses it several hours a day five days a week and that person is probably not buying low end Ryobis.

There're many reasons why someone might want to go with the nicer brushless tools, but the practically non-existent need to replace brushes shouldn't be one of them.

Oh, and another thing, I used to replace brushes in DeWalt products for others - but honestly, by the time those tools needed a brush change, they were so old and beat up that I questioned putting the time and expense into them versus just getting something modern.

I hate how these sets always include a flashlight to buffer the number of "tools" included

Same here. Got a driver, multi-charger, and inflator/deflator so far.

I just bought a 6-tool non-brushless set for $199. Is it worth returning for this set? I'd be losing the circular saw and the extra 4ah battery.

Absolutely worth it if you can. Brushless is more power and better battery life

Ultimately I think you'll be happier with brushless over the long haul. Some tools don't matter that much, but a high-draw tool like a circular saw is way better brushless. I'd return your set and get this one, and then keep your eyes peeled for a deal on a brushless circular saw.

Is this the same as the brushless set I missed on back in Feb? I think that one was 179.99, not sure if an older model set.

They had a
Brushless Compact 8-Tool Combo Kit back in January for less than $300 after hack. You get an extra bag and 3 other brushless tools. Im hoping they bring that back.

The brushless tools are very good. And they're especially well suited for power hungry devices like a circular saw.

That being said, I have several brushed tools that work just fine for my use. That brushless multi tool might save me a few seconds several time a year. Am I going to really notice?

I noticed a huge difference but that's because I had a brushed set that was old with dying batteries.

Also depending on the usage. The more u use the brushed tools, the faster the brushes will wear out, affecting its performance resulting you to replace the brushes. So if u dont use the tools often, brushed is ok.

Actually, the brushless oscillating multi-tool is one of the tools where you gain more meaningful features when you step up to the brushless version: it has a quick-release for the blade/attachments, versus the brushed version which requires you to remove the lock bolt & washer with an Allen key each time you want to change or rotate blades/attachments. Not a huge difference, but a nice touch, and makes it impossible to lost the blade lock bolt.

So it saves you a few more minutes each year!
