Nah. 4ah vs 1.5 ah battery. Full size recip vs one hand. Lights don't have motors. Ryobi oscillators aren't too great in any version. The drill is a non issue, esp. considering the versions included in these kits. Your set was cheaper, has more tools, and more battery capacity. Around the house with the particular tools in these sets you won't notice a difference outside of that smaller second battery. The difference brushless provides doesn't work out to anything meaningful with the way these bundles are set up.

If someone is using a tool so much that they're wearing out brushes, they're likely a professional who uses it several hours a day five days a week and that person is probably not buying low end Ryobis.

There're many reasons why someone might want to go with the nicer brushless tools, but the practically non-existent need to replace brushes shouldn't be one of them.

Oh, and another thing, I used to replace brushes in DeWalt products for others - but honestly, by the time those tools needed a brush change, they were so old and beat up that I questioned putting the time and expense into them versus just getting something modern.

This is key. I bought the brushed 5.5 Ryobi back in Sept of 2020 thinking as a DIYer and part time woodworker that would be fine. The motor crapped out on me last month. I totally feel like I got my moneys worth on it but it was annoying not having a circ saw to do projects. I ended up jumping on the Skil 12v brushless circ saw and have been very happy with it. If you want to stay with Ryobi brushless, keep in mind many were commenting that the brushless circ saw offered by Ryobi is not square. That's a non starter for me

Brushless vs Brushed is based on how much you will use it and how often. If here and there, the brush is fine.. if a contractor then brushless is the way to go.

I just have to say, I have decades old tools that have been used and abused and I've never had to change brushes in any of them, except for my 4" hand-held dry tile saw that I used five days a week for about probably close to 10 years. That being said, these days it's hard to recommend brushed tools unless they are giving them away.

You didn't get your money's worth. That tool should have lasted you many years of heavy use. Brushed tools don't die in a year. Something else went wrong.

I bougth this set used a while ago. The drill had issues with the drill bits not holding right. But HD replaced it without questions asked.

The impact driver is nice, but super loud.

Many people complain with the oscillating tool trigger getting stuck/ creating issues.

Haven't tried the other two tools.

Overall, I'm in love with the compact form factor, as a homeowner i dont need lots of power for small house jobs, and the size and weight matters more to me

I have 10-12 year old tools with Lithium battery and they still work. I don't know how they compare with a new battery since I never did any testing.

I like to keep my batteries at room temperature (i.e. not in the garage where it can get very hot during the Summer) and I try to keep them around 40-60% full. I also use them about 2-3x per year. I never store them full or empty.

This works for me, if someone has better advice, please share. Thanks.

I'm looking for a multi-tool / hedge-clipper deal. I really WANT the multi-tool and I really NEED the hedge-clippers. I've got a lot of Ryobi already so I'm invested and have everything in this pack except the multi-tool. Does that deal exist and should I hold out? Or should I just buy the hedge-clippers so my HOA doesn't send me a nasty-gram?

Brushed. I'm not a professional contractor. Brushless is nice, but brushed will work for my needs and probably last long enough that I'll forget how long I've owned them.
