They are absolutely not 99% identical. The claps are worse, and the rubber is much thinner and gets worn to shiny extremely fast. I'm not saying the Apple bands are worth their retail prices, but they are several orders of magnitude better.

I disagree. For most apple products, they worth the money, IMHO.

Eh… more like 70% identical. I've found the non-branded bands tends to stick to dust and fur after a while. While the Apple bands remain and continues to have that matte finish even after several years

If you're the target market for this, you probably disagree, but I suspect you aren't. I'm not really, either, but I recognized the Pan-African colors partly based on the band's name.

It's a different type of rubber, and feels very different right from the start. My one experience with an Amazon band ended after three months when one side developed a tear, whereas I have OEM bands 3+ years old still in service. Looking at it that way, it's the third-party ones which are the rip-offs…

There are maybe 1 in 100 people who could identify the cause behind this band without having seen it before.

I'm whiter than a Whole Foods in a blizzard, and I bought one. It's not a sophisticated fashion piece, but neither is the Apple Watch itself.
