No. It hasn't burnt down anyone's homes. It has caused 50+ toaster fires. I had a Black & Decker toaster that did that around 10 years. That said, I bought one of the recalled ones, and will return it. Don't fear monger. At least report it accurately.

Build quality is pretty good and plastic smell goes away pretty quickly after running a few times. But it's not 1500w as advertised, it's printed 1300w on 2 places on the machine itself. Most 5qt+ AF are 1500w+ nowadays. The light inside on mine seems to go on and off randomly when heating, there is no button to control it. The control panel is outdated, it lacks a lot of features. Also water seeps in-between the glass when u wash the basket, very annoying and it fogs up when u heat it up. Not bad for $50, but I ended up returning mine.

Just found out my insignia air fryer is recalled and was interested in this one but I'm reading it's only 1300w. My insignia was 1700w and smaller, this one seems a little underpowered.
