Plenty of people dislike bugs or anything else falling from the ceiling, but I'm not sure why you'd be more worried about that with these racks... Bugs don't need racks and bins to hang out on your ceilings and terrorize you, sorry to share this bad news

I have a couple of SafeRack ones, these look potentially less sturdy. SafeRack ceiling brackets are longer (load is more distributed) and the vertical corner pieces don't have all the weird cut outs (they are symmetrical right angles and just have holes)

Wouldn't it be much cheaper to just piece together plain metal brackets, like those for garage door openers, and osb/plywood for the bottom?

Not a bad deal but 42" would be too low for my low ceiling garages

As someone that had both, the Saferacks and the home Depot, I can say they are both comparable. Husky system had additional crossbars on the deck for support and the wire grid deck was probably why it is cheaper, since you lay it across once framed but it was equally as sturdy.

I've made several hanging shelves in my garage with 2x4s and ply wood. We're a lot cheaper than this but that was before lumber prices were insane.

This is gonna sound weird but does anyone worry about bugs or anything falling from whatever you would store in these Racks on the ceiling? Or am I just an arachnophobe

My neighbor has the Costco ones, a bigger one and a smaller one and they are pretty great. They seem pretty sturdy too. Also no bugs fall from them and I can't think why they would. They also have a pretty cool ladder to be able to get up to them, reminds me of those ladders you use to get on the planes in some countries, it also has wheels on it.

I'm picturing the garages in my area and don't know how these would fit. Have to have room when the garage door is up/open, room for the motor, and room for the opening to the attic which everyone has here. Can't picture having one of these unless it was very small

The true answer no one wants you to know on here is yes. Stuff stored on the ceiling will give areas for bugs to live, hide, and nest. Likely though, they will not fall on you alive. Either it will be a spider that jumps on you from these or their dead bug victims that fall from their web. Also when the spiders have babies, they could hatch up there, and lots of little spiders could fall on you too. 🕷️ 🕸️

If you get this, I just recommend offsetting the placement so it's not where you are constantly walking under. That could help less bugs and spiders falling onto you and your loved ones.
