2 notes to consider:
1. The rubber smells. Really smells. I have it outside, so it is not a problem.
2. It comes on a 3x6 pallet. You should have space for delivery guys

I would think yes. I am an average lifter myself. To me this deal gives you a total of 255 lbs of weight in plates alone (not including 45 lbs bar). What I've learned from here and other forums that if u were to buy weights a good deal is to pay $1/lbs. so it's not the best deal per se but if u are looking for something now, I'd consider it. The smell reviews are legit but if u wipe the plates down and leave it in the garage for a week, it goes away. I might buy it just for the weights lol .. I looked around and a pair of 45 lbs plates is around $140+ ..

That's for regular cast iron plates. These are RUBBER! Not trying to be rude, but in for one!
If we're going with the $1/lb as the rule of thumb, the bar is an extra $105. Which isn't bad at all since the bar is actually better than average.
I paid this much about 8-12 months ago.
One downside: I keep the weights and bar in the garage and I've already noticed a little rust on the bar (maybe because I don't wipe it down after every workout?? ).

The lowest I have seen it was when it was $399 in October. That is when I bought a set. I was waiting for it to drop to that price again so I could grab another set. This is even better! Thanks OP!

Do you feel a bar adds a lot more/better lifting options

Otherwise, I don't use them much compared to my dumbbells. It's a lot quicker to bench with dumbbells, and I like having the separate control. But benching with a bar is nice especially at higher weights because it's safer (assuming your rack is setup properly)
Any rack should do honestly, I have the Rep Fitness PR-1100 but I believe there is a budget brand model that looks similar you can get on amazon for less ~$300
That is for assembly. Delivery is free.
Not bumper plates, though. These are the in-between zone. You don't want to drop them hard, but some people like them better than bare steel.
think for setup is 50$
at least for n. california
