Pretty bad reviews but since most mention it's being slow it's most likely due to mechanical hard drive so be prepared to install M.2 SSD to gain good speeds, while mechanical can be still used as storage (install m.2, use program to copy the old drive then erase old one for storage which should be pretty simple). As far as CD/DVD it would just add extra weight and nowadays getting used rarely IMO.
As far as no touchscreen…..complaining for its price of $300 is….
It has full HD 15.6" lcd, 11th gen Intel i3 CPU, backlit keyboard, option for M.2 drive and while 8gb is basic it's still more than most of the laptops below $400 offer (it has 4GB soldered and one sodimm available with 4GB in it so 8GB stick or maybe even 16GB can be added).
WiFi supports AX 2x2 as well as Bluetooth 5.1

Based on this review [laptopmedia.com], the RAM is upgradable and it does have a sd card reader. There is also an additional M.2 slot for ssd.

I agree with the other comments. Out of the box, this laptop will be slow and offer a poor user experience due to the mechanical hard drive. If you have the technical savvy to add a SSD drive into the M2 slot, install Windows on the SSD, then format the 1 TB mechanical drive for extra storage, then this will become a solid machine with good performance for the price. You can get a 240 GB M2 SSD for around $40 to $50.

The title and content are wrong about storage type. It's hard drive instead of ssd.

OP could you please update the specs. This does not come with a 1TB SSD. It comes with a 1TB HDD.

For those who need similar specs, another deal is still live from BH Photo Video: https://slickdeals.net/f/15672046-lenovo-ideapad-3-laptop-i3-1115g4-8gb-256gb-ssd-15-6-1080p-349-free-s-h-at-b-h-photo?page=4#commentsBox.

The big difference is that BH Photo Video's one is 256GB M.2 NVMe PCIe Solid State Drive instead of HDD. It is slightly more expensive, $50 more, which basically covers the cost for NVMe SSD but will save the hassle of a separate purchase with DIY upgrade.

OP: Your description says 1TB SSD while people are saying this is a old-school mechanical HDD.

Personally I would probably go for Samsung but currently I don't see them on sale (I got bunch of them from BestBuy when they offered refurbished ones on sale but right now they only have 980 @$55 SKU# 6457128 ), currently the cheapest I see while still decent specs is Silicon Power one on Amazon @$45 https://www.amazon.com/Silicon-Po...r=1-3&th=1
I'll keep an eye out for an m.2. I'm giving it to a family member, so I'll try to get a samsung or similar.

Deals just keep popping up, what do you think about this:

And it's a slow-by-10 year ago standards 5400 rpm hdd per the spec sheet on office depot. I feel bad for anyone who bit based on the title and specs listed on this post. The cost to add an SSD and get decent boot times moves this out of deal territory for me.

Good deal. The only upgrade I would do is put Zorin OS on it along side Windows 11 or replace it. This machine is great for a fast Linux distro installed on it.

Click on the product link and look at the actual specs on OfficeDepot. Scroll down to where it says "Storage Type: HDD" and "Storage Speed: 5400 RPM"

Definitely a slow mechanical drive and misrepresented by this post.

If you don't mind refurbished unit (which is fine IMO as long as some kind of warranty is offered or can be added) then the HP has much better specs especially the display which would be very nice for movies. As far as the quality of HP I don't think it will be much worse than this Lenovo one.

That is the OP's description, which is incorrect. Read the specs on the product and you will see it says HDD.

Looks like the OP already change the description to HDD.

I'm getting it for someone else, and just don't want to deal with any issues moving forward. I'm planning on a fresh install of windows 10 pro with office and shipping it out.

Even a gateway popped up on my feed. I'm giving them all three of these options and he can decide what screen size he wants.

Cpu is junk. Storage is junk. The combination of the two takes minutes to open a simple application.
They're putting win 11 on this with such cpu, mechanical hdd, and minimal ram is ridiculous.
A rock is faster than this thing.
The CPU is faster than any gen 10 I3. Faster than most older I5's as well. Yes it is only dual core but it is quite fast.

Adding a M.2 even just 256GB is not that hard. Might as well upgrade the memory to 12 GB in the process.

Had a dual core i3. Added a ssd on it. Apps were still laggy opening ten seconds after double clicking. It's the slow cpu. This i3, being the same dual core it is would be the same result.
