Most recently the 1080p fire stick went into a black non-loading screen from start - this was just over 3 months after being replaced due to the other unit failing. I contacted support and it turns out they updated their firestick warranty to be 90 days. I persisted until they offered to replace the device free of charge, but this change in warranty highlighted how the quality of these sticks has plummeted (used to be 1 year warranty).
The initial issue I keep seeing is that the firestick fails to start up when tv turns on - this has been the indicator that the end is nigh. Another issue, tho the firesticks come with Alexa controllers, the Alexa control was not working out of the box (1x newest gen 1080p model, 1x 4k model). Occasionally I can get voice control, but generally it shows an error "this system is not compatible with Alexa" - crazy since these sticks are the 2020 upgraded models.
Hope this helps those considering a purchase! If nothing else get the extra warranty to cover in case the device starts acting up.
