I did a LOT of research before buying a french door fridge and ended up choosing LG almost 2 years ago.. and so want to clear up some misconceptions and give some tips on choosing a fridge.

tl;dr LG changed their compressors on models sometime after they were sued; so it's safer to choose their newer models (look for models from late-2019 or early 2020 and up to be even more safe.) LG still sold the old models that had fault-prone compressors to get rid of their old stock (around the time I was looking); and they're probably still doing it now (since they only settled the lawsuit) so it's likely LMXS28626S has one of these problematic compressors. To figure out the models that most likely have the new compressors, go to LG's fridge page and sort by new; and the newer fridges past the first Craft Ice and newer likely have the redesigned compressors. (But to be extra safe I would recommend the models starting from URNTS3106N and newer. The first generation of Craft Ice fridges were from mid-2019; and the lawsuit specifically mentions models from 2014 to 2019; so from URNTS3106N and newer is a safe bet.)

1st-- "Don't buy LG because their compressors fail." Was told by many repair ppl that any modern fridge can have their compressors fail, and it could take YEARS to find out out which models are good or bad, or for other problems to come up-- doesn't matter the brand/manufacturer either, there's failures in every brand. LG addressed their compressor issue but only on newer models.. but realize it only brought their compressors up to par with any other modern fridges, which again, will take years to figure out the "reliable" models. Know that brands known for their reliability from their simpler refrigerators (like Whirlpool, Maytag, etc.) does not carry over to modern and french door refrigerators. So consider the company's warranty before making a purchase. Also, read tl;dr to know which LG models to look out for.

2. Take some negative reviews with a grain of salt, esp. with newer models of popular brands. There's a lot of negative reviews from people who leave reviews on models they don't own, but look similar. Can't have had the fridge over 2 years when the model is only a year old. So if a fridge is from same brand and looks the same, or has slightly different features, don't assume reviews from similar models are applicable. Again, it takes years to find out if a certain model has particular issues.

3. Don't buy Samsung refrigerators. They use incredibly cheap and low quality interior components but make their exterior flawless, so don't fall for it. As an anecdote, we were considering an LG Signature series refrigerator (we were offered a large discount) that retailed over $6k+.. and the only difference between that and a $3500 LRMVC2306S LG model (that we eventually chose) was that it had an extra door + drawer, a ss-interior, and soft close drawers.. so $3k extra just for those features. And Samsung by comparison had a model that not only had the same features as the LRMVC2306S (excluding the craft ice) but the same features as the signature series (ss-interior, etc.) but for like $2.5k. So what LG would charge for superficial upgrades, was more than the cost of this Samsung fridge. We saw them both in-person and you physically couldn't differentiate the quality between the two, the Samsung model seemed as good as the Signature model at over twice the price. But that's likely where all the costs went-- on the exterior things you could only touch. LG gained a bad reputation over faulty compressors, while Samsung gain theirs from using bad quality components. At least when LG were sued, they were forced to address the issue or risk either another lawsuit or the market entirely; Samsung on the other hand have no incentive/incident to make them improve their internal components because they will always make sales from the 'value' proposition they have over other fridges, regardless if internally its crap quality.
I've read all the LG nightmares. Bought one anyway 5 years ago. ZERO problems! Just my 2 cents
While I agree the quality is hit or miss, you can't find the same kind of space and features for less. Getting a similar fridge from GE or Bosch is easily twice as much, maybe even more.

You should probably buy a couple of them for when the first one breaks.

Very solid deal, we just picked up a Samsung 28cuft French door with twin cooling for $200 more not long ago, this is a better deal if you don't care about dual evaporators

Just a reminder this literally only has 2 freezer drawers but for the same single freezer compartment, i.e. not the 4 drawer model with independent temperature control.

I see there is this model and the cheaper LG model that has the water on the inside, and not on the outside door. Does anyone have an info/knowledge/experience/advice with the water being on the inside like that? I've never seen it till now.
