Another way is if you have a router that has a usb port and readyshare ability and sideload kodi and setup the player in the media section.
I'm sure there are also ways to use a computer and wirelessly access the content on it from kodi. Like plex.

Interesting i might try the cable. This is for my moms house, trying to make it simple for her, I was trying to find out if the newer roku boxes can read a MKV from a HD but couldn't find a straight answer, Since she has 2 roku tvs in the house.
The TV I would like to use this on used to play MKV with ease but it decided to update and brick itself so none of the software works anymore.
