I did this last time (both Ikea and Cashstar). Timeline:
- Ordered: Nov 30, 2021.
- No Gift Cards by Jan 5, 2022, contacted CS.
- No Gift cards by Jan 25, 2022, contacted CS. Requested refund, refund approved. Took a couple of weeks to appear on the Credit Card.
On the positive side their CS were easy to get a hold of and very responsive. Getting a refund was fairly easy when I requested it. But ultimately after almost two months no gift card or word on when it would be forthcoming. Seems dysfunctional.
Use immediately or your funds will mysteriously disappear
Excellent deal, thank you! Now the bigger issue is making sure IKEA actually has the items I want in stock!

They probably use a generator for card numbers and a pattern can be found. Had it happen to a $100 Lowe's card years ago. Thankfully I bought through PayPal who refunded me.
Good deal as they rarely have sales, however there's the argument that you get better ROI by buying items that will hold up better over time (even second hand). But even then, with care and a few handyman skills you can keep it up for a long while. Also, I admit to doing one of their Billy built-in bookcase hacks which is really cheap for what you get.

Generator as in scammers taking your card?
