I recently bought from this exact link, but I actually received the newer GWM5610U-1. Since the Amazon listing is for the non-U, I don't know if U and non-Us are mixed together, but I did receive the U.
You can watch Youtube comparison videos between the 5610 and 5610U, but the gist of it is the newer U has LED illumination compared to the elecro-luminescent (which IMO the old one is better looking but degrades over the decades), as well as some tiny interface changes for the better and more preset timezones.
For those like me who have small wrists and upgrading from the lower-end DW5600, this one is a tiny bit SMALLER than the DW5600, and feel a bit more comfortable (maybe a softer resin?).

One of them is the multi band 6 atomic time keeping technology. Meaning that once you set the watch to a timezone you never have to set the watch again even for day light savings. Every night the watch will send radio signals to high towers stationed around the world and will sync the watch. Meaning it is the most accurate time. compared to world time clocks online it's the most accurate.
2nd feature is tough solar which means it can power the battery from both direct sunlight but also fluorescent lamps so it can charge indoors as well. Battery will never run low. I left mines in a drawer for a couple weeks took it back out battery was still on high.
If you need a functional watch this is the one. The only downfall would probably be the alarm beeping is kind of faint sound so it might not be able to wake you up if you use it for a sleep alarm.
Also I swapped out my band for a Jays and Kays Ballistic Nylon strap which I prefer over the resin strap which can get sticky if you get sweaty a lot.
Not in person, gshocks are closer to phone case material and glass, cheaper casios are just hard plastic.
