Target has slowly been diluting their promos. This was $50 off last year for a new credit line. You also used to be able to utilize their buy 3, get $10 or $15 gift card with purchase and have it shipped free by using their credit. Now you're required to go to the store or pay a delivery service.

I just got the redcard recently when they ran this promo, I think in March.

Yes u can have a debit and credit card. Don't cancel the credit card. It's a 0$ fee card. Rule of thumb never cancel credit cards as you'll lose credit. Just purchase something small every few months to a year to keep the card account active.

No clue why people would opt for the credit version of the card instead of the debit unless you absolutely cannot get approved for a credit card anywhere else.

Terrible advice. If you don't use it just cancel it. Tracking credit cards is a huge waste of mental energy. Plus puts you at higher risk of unauthorized use and having to keep an eye out for that. Life is short. Enjoy it and don't worry about small things that improve your credit score minimally. Your credit score will be fine if you just use your standard cards regularly. Canceling unused cards will cause your score to take a small hit but over a few months it will be right back to where it was.

I totally agree to this. In past one month three of my credit cards have closed due to inactivity and score dipped by 5. One of the card was as old as my credit history and other two I got within 1-2 years of starting credit history.

I have only applied for the debit card version. It takes a couple of days cause they will make some random amount deposits into your bank account, once verified, you would get an approval email and your card will come in the mail later.

Cancelled my old debit card a week ago. Old card was applied Jan-2022. Now I applied again,
New Debit card application rejected, got the message: Your application has been received and will be reviewed. We will notify you by mail within 7-10 days.
I believe this message means rejected.

sounds like it's either immediate approval or rejection letter by mail.
