10% off with Amazon CC and free assembly on-site makes this a pretty good deal - why the downvotes?

I was wondering that too. Ah well, I haven't seen a deal on Traeger posted for awhile, maybe that's why. 😂

Looks like Costco's Silverton 620 is discounted too: "$100 manufacturer's savings is valid 4/29/22 through 5/8/22. While supplies last. Limit 5 per member.

Based on reviews yes, based on my own experience I don't know as I just ordered mine. I will say, my friend has the Ironwood 885 and loves it, and his brisket is on point! I have read its not a full grill replacement though, so don't expect it to be.

No they're not, there's much better products for the price. Traeger used to be a great brand, then they started skimping on product and adding on price. Personally, I went to a Green Mountain grill and have been more than happy with the product and the one time I had to call CS. Going on 8yrs with it and had to replace the fan and the ignitor only.

Whatever you got 8 years ago may not be the same as GM today, and Traeger certainly is not, so that seems like an apples/oranges comparison

I'd love to know some models you'd recommend over them, because the Pro and Ironwood are typically #1/top 5 in any reputable BBQ site or review site (consumer reports). Camp Chef being another solid brand for "decent" pricing for wood pellet. The Weber SmokeFire, which sits between the Pro and Ironwood for price has some ups and downs for reviews.

Does that mean they are worth a $500 premium? Maybe not, but they aren't junk. Also, GMG are made in China as well and the comparable models cost the same as the Pro/Ironwood.

Lol, please point out where in my post I mentioned Camp Chef, Weber, or even the country of manufacture. And while you're at it, please post your reputable BBQ sites that list traeger as #1. While they may be an original, any BBQ expert knows they've fallen off as a brand. Sure, they got some neat features here and there, but the overall product is not worth the price anymore. I had a 2003 traeger that was a champ, fantastic device that just worked in every situation. Bought another brand new in 2011 that was garbage, thin metal that constantly flared up until it completely warped itself after around 15 cooks. Paid $700+ and sold it for $100 for scrap metal.
This is my personal experience, and I know there's been several other users here and other sites that have complained about the quality after the outsource. RecTeq, Mak, Yoder, Weber, Camp Chef, Pit Boss, Z-Grills...all are better options. My GMG Jim Bowie is fantastic for me, prob not the best, but still a better option than traeger. Pre 2006 traeger are great too. And while most are made in China, which I don't care too much about, traeger uses the cheapest and thinnest materials.
The majority of this is personal opinion, no need to get all butthurt about it. But the majority of professional BBQ teams that use pellets do not use traeger. And I trust the tour pros over some website or consumer reports.

The units are solid. Depends on what you are looking for exactly. Keep the inside clean and you and your guests will enjoy it. Just be prepared, while you can grill on it, it will just take longer. Heat does not go as high as grills I use mine all the time. The app for temp control and shutdown is a bonus.

How dirty was your smoker to have a flare up? Solid metal separates it from the food, you really never should unless it's sitting in grease.

The majority of professional bbq teams use custom built. This is for residential use, if you are a pro smoking on something under $5K you probably aren't a pro. I'm not butt hurt, I just find it interesting you are saying Traeger sucks yet the materials are being sourced from the same factories as your GMG probably lol. But as you said, it's all personal preference so we are both entitled to our opinions.

I like my Traeger. I have never used any other smoker. The only gripe I have is I wish mine could get it over 400°. I know, the point of a smoker is to go low and slow but sometimes I want hot and fast.

Let's say I'm able to get an Ironwood 650 for $700-$800 new from a retailer. Is that as killer deal as it seems to me in my head?
What are the cons (what can't it do) vs normal propane grill? Just max temps & heating time?
