According to notebookcheck this should have a 120Hz panel. However, it's not mentioned on Newegg nor MSI's site. Neither has it been mentioned in any of the reviews on YouTube. So, can't really confirm that.
Anyone have personal experience with this? I'm seeing a mix of good reviews and a few red flags. In particular, I'm worried about the wifi and the hinge after seeing some reviews.
Questions...
1) one review says it has bad coil whine. I don't have much high end hearing. Will I care about the coil whine?
2) This one has a pen and a lower processor for $50 more than the Costco. Given that I hate rebates and don't even know what a pen if for, the costco one seems like a no brainer. Does that make sense?
3) It has a "silky" screen. My current laptop has a glossy screen that is annoying. Will "silky" be better?

1) You need to know that coil whine and fans both come into play on this laptop. However, the former is hardly loud enough to be heard/noticed unless you put your ear next to the laptop. The fans, though, aren't loud and don't come into play unless you're trying to game on this device or do very intensive graphic work. During productivity, web browsing, and media consumption the coil nor the fan come into play. Game, and the fans go crazy.
2) The difference between the 1185G7 and 1195G7 is impossible to notice in day to day usage. The difference is only on paper. I suppose if the costco one is without a pen? If yes, then that's a subjective matter. If you use PowerPoint or do creative work, it really comes in handy.
3) I have no idea what silky means. *edited:* oh now I know what you're referring to. The "silky" over here is referring to the track pad, not the screen. The track pad is glass on this, not plastic which is usually present on cheaper laptops. The screen on this is glossy similar to the one on your current laptop. However, the high brightness would overcome the glare which is the primary problem on glossy panels.
The costco one would probably come with a 2 year warranty too and since you "hate" rebates, then it's a no brainer in your case.
This is a very nice laptop for the price that checks all the boxes for me except I'd prefer a Ryzen processor. I'm sure many will be very happy with it.
Thanks for sharing. Looks like the Costco deal is better in every way, and no rebate. Plus I prefer the black version. I think I'm gonna buy, my only con so far without reading reviews is the non upgradeable memory.
I was of getting the framework laptop but I think I'll get this because the price and screen is better. Plus Costco hassle free returns.
The costco version comes with a pen (and a touchscreen). The pen is shown in the pictures. This page shows all of the Summit E13FlipEvo A11MT versions. https://us.msi.com/Business-Produ...cification I think the Costco version is E13FlipEvo A11MT-242 although the item is listed as E13FlipEvo A11MT-243 which is white. All versions include a pen.
The Costco deal seems better especially if you have the Citibank Costco credit card. Extended Warranty and 2% cash back. 2% more if you also have "executive membership"...

Thumbs down for the rebate card.

With 11th Gen Intel® Core™ i7-1195G7 Processor. I think everything else is the same.
Here is a review for the OP version that states "Display 13.40 inch 16:10, 1920 x 1200 pixel 169 PPI, 10-point capacitive, native pen support, Sharp LQ134N1JW53, IPS, glossy: yes, 120 Hz https://www.notebookcheck.net/MSI-Summit-E13-Flip-Evo-Convertible-Review-A-Timeless-Design.535362.0.... [notebookcheck.net] Seems legit but I can't find that confirmed on the MSI site. I'd like to get this years model also available at Costco but at $1299.
