it depends on where you live. if you live in a city within close range to the broadcasts, they're great. If not, I usually just count on cutting the claimed distance for reception in half since it varies due to weather conditions.

I use one in a window. Roku finds many local channels for live TV.

Do you connect the antenna to the roku? I never knew they had a device similar to the amazon recast.

You really need a booster. You can buy a booster for about $10 but that cancels out any savings. I have found the best to have rabbit ears and a loop. I pick up a lot of stations about 35 miles away with such an antenna. The best unit I have I found in my dumpster. It was a Radio Shack unit.Basically buy from a store as Walmart which has an easy return policy. Then, test various ones until you find a unit that works the best.

I have a Roku tv. The Roku scanned for the channels. Many of the couple hundred channels are streaming TV, but there are 26 local channels and I'm up against a mountain. Some of the channels broadcast from over 40 miles away from me.

I don't think there is really a signficant difference between different versions of the cheap little square unamplified anteneas.
If one didn't work for you then its likely you don't get great eception where you live or theres something blocking the signal.

Try https://www.antennaweb.org/ to see what kind of singal you ought to get from the locals and maybe think about if there is a hill, buildings, forest, half of your own house, etc between you and the direction the broadcast towers are.

Roku vs Roku TV is important distinction.

Usually Roku do not get broadcast TV and are sticks or settop box that connect to the TV.

Your TV has Roku built in and would be using a TV tuner built into the TV to get the over air TV. Normal Roku's don't have that TV tuner function.,

I've messed with all these small and flat panel antennas back years ago. If you're gonna cut the cord it's probably a good idea to invest in a decent antenna. It's pretty easy to mount a Yagi or a Clearstream in an attic or closet and they work fantastic. Walmart carries a few Clearstream models for around $60.00.

Very true, that's why I asked for clarification. I am impressed tho with the TVs that allow you to put all content ota/streaming into one guide.

I've tried a few of these flat panels. ehhh. Bought $1.98 rabbit ears from 99 cent store and after rotating the base, had better reception.

I noticed with the flat panels, they really need to be by the window, which I don't like to see.
