I suppose this can be a way to go. But I am going to make a suggestion.

Personally, I got tired of trying to fit all my USB ports into the cigarette outlet of the car.
I got tired of the fights during trips where there never seemed to be enough available ports.
And it just seemed like these things were clumsy.

I started thinking about all those holes in the dash with the plastic covers. They were probably for some obscure option that I did not choose.
I looked around and found something like the link that I provided at the bottom.

I am not posting the link saying that this is the exact one to get. It is only to give you an idea of what I am talking about. This is for a Toyota...but I imagine that all Makes have them.
This one is QC3. But you can get them with QC2 or no QC at all.

Now...to be fair...these are more expensive.....and although I thought it was fairly easy, this does take a little bit of knowledge to wire in.
And for those pointing out that it only has 2 USB ports....yes.....but how many of those holes are in your dash?
I personally wired in 3 of these (Types...not exact one in the link) in one vehicle and 4 in the other vehicle.

I will tell you now....they are a game-changer. Nobody ever fighting for slots. Slots are always available.
Never dealing with some wart coming out of the cigarette lighter.

Now I get it. It might not be an answer for some. But for me...and some others, I suspect that it is.

I found that the term "cigarette lighter" for 12v outlets gets me blank stares from anyone under 30 Wink
For those seeking USB-C I'd point out that, assuming the Monoprice charger employs even the most basic current limiting circuitry, this is probably about the safest charger to use with a USB A to USB C cable as current delivered per port should never be allowed to exceed the rated 2.4A per port. Note that where you typically get into trouble with USB A to USB C cables is when a non-compliant cable allows a device being charged to signal a higher 3A draw, potentially damaging both the device supplying power (as it attempts to meet that request) as well as the connected cable (as it attempts to carry more current than the amount for which it is rated).

This 4-port USB A device is all about maximizing "traditional" USB-A charging without limiting you to shared/"slow" charging. However, given the variability of needs for USB-C (from basic standby charging all the way up to powering laptops) you're always going to be better off with a charger adapter dedicated to that option (it is conceivable that a user might need a 12V USB-C adapter that provides 45W to a single port!). The combination USB-C and USB-A chargers will often employ complicated balances of power across ports in single vs. combined operation which require examination as to whether they actually function for your application.

Good luck!
Jon

That looks ridiculous. Why doesn't someone beat everyone else to the end and make one with 100 ports in a 10 by 10 grid?

Typically they are higher, but USB power is 5V and cigarette lighter jacks are 12V. So even with this charger supporting 9.6amps, the draw would only be pulling 4 amps at 12V.

Fuses are at 12V. 5A*12V=60W (12A at USB 5V -15% loss). However, in my BMW it's a 20Amp fuse.

12V @ 5A = 60W
5V @ 9.6A = 48W

So if you are concerned about blowing the cigarette lighter fuse, it should not blow.

People keep mentioning QC 3.0 here, so I'd just like to point out something. When I got an s8 many years ago, I got QC3 chargers. Well, QC won't quick charge non-Qualcomm devices obviously, but it also won't quick charge many devices that do have a Qualcomm processor, including any Pixel phone. BUT, USB-PD chargers will work with Samsung, Pixel, Apple devices, and laptops.
I can't think of a reason for anyone to buy a QC3 charger at this point. Go with USB-PD, IMO.
