In Verizon , no risk. Get the phone , activate it , Make a call, Pay off the phone ( either with in 3 days to avoid activation or after 14 days ) and cancel the line. Phone will be autoamatically unlocked.

Risk is in ATT phone which require , sim swap.

I hope this help.
This has the inefficient 8 gen 1 processor, meaning you'll have disappointing battery life. The S23+ has among the best battery life (plus it's newer, will get updates for longer, ...). So if you're not awfully tight on money, you'll likely be more pleased for longer with the S23+.

Edit: Also, the S23+ has 256 GB of storage, while the S22+ in this deal has 128 GB.
I'm going to practice on a Walmart/Verizon Samsung Galaxy a14 to make sure this works.

Trying to get the schedule right. Does this work?
- Monday (Day 0) Buy phone on Walmart website.
- Wednesday (Day 2) Phone arrives with 2-day shipping.
- Wednesday (Day 2) Activate, make a phone call and text.
- Wednesday (Day 2) or Thursday (Day 3) Call Verizon support to cancel service.
- Wait at least 60 days. You can tweak out the phone during this time, trying to uninstall bloatware, setting up an SD card, etc...
- Punch IMEI into https://www.t-mobile.com/resource...-own-phone BYOD checker. It should say the phone is unlocked and good. (It should be unlocked automatically)
- Re-activate on any USA mobile network. I'll probably go with US Mobile (A MVNO for Verizon and T-Mobile).

There seem to be a lot of these AT&T/Verizon locked phone deals.

Is there a guide anywhere on how to exactly, step-by-step, buy this phone and turn it into an off-contract, unlocked phone in 60 days?

Something that explains things like sim swap method, or exactly how it gets unlocked. Who to pay, when to pay it, who to call, when to call, what to say, etc...?

These look like good deals, but there is some work and risk involved, and I'm not one to gamble $200 easily.

So what's the catch here?

My S20FE has been treating me well after a few years, but at this price if I can use this on my T-Mobile network after unlock it seems like a no brainer.

If I would do this for my parents who is already using Verizon, is there a way to avoid upgrade fee? They won't switch to any other provider either.

But Walmart website doesn't mention anything about sim. Is that included with phone purchase? What plan does it come with by default? Sorry I'm new to this..

Do you have to buy a months worth of service to activate the phone. Minimum of $60?

What is the monthly plan? Even if we cancel in 3 days, what would the plan cost for those days?

I'm tempted to jump on this, but the lack of an SD card slot (currently have an S20+) is giving me pause. Ugh.

How to pay off the device within 3 days apart from going to the corporate store and paying the installment amount ?

I was using the trick of paying the device balance through IVRS mentioned in one of the previous posts and looks like its not working now and do you know any other method to pay off the device early ?

I have the same dilemma - is a newer model with double the storage capacity worth the extra $150 Unsure
